• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Cross country tow

Kia gave me an amount we negotiated based on my specific circumstance, probably not fair to Kia to share the specific amount.
Seeing as this is a forum to help others out and your case is not unique, many of us would need to retrofit our vehicles in order to tow more than 2000 lbs. If you don't want to share ok, but I would like to have this done down the line.

Wow. I just got done buying the hitch, factory 4 pin, 7 pin and electronic trailer brake stuff and it cost a bit over $700. Plus just bought a 3500lb camper with the weight distribution bars. Going camping next weekend. Will post on how traveled and mileage etc. from the dealer home it felt good but going through town was only 40.

At least they did the right thing in the end. I ended up buying a Curt wireless brake controller. I still had to do the 4 pin to 7 pin conversion but the Curt allows you to skip wiring a brake controller in the vehicle cab since it plugs directly into the 7 pin. Since the accelerometers are in the controller it still functions even if it loses bluetooth connectivity to your phone. The phone is only used for initial setup and to manually activate the trailer brakes if needed. Reviews are good but unfortunately I haven't used it yet so I can't offer any personal experience. Just FYI.
