• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Dealer Inventory / Production

question for you guys- I was told at the dealership yesterday that Kia does not 'allow' or is 'not able' to have you ORDER the car you want.. true? so besides the current supply issue that you mention above- as a whole the Kia company does not allow customized orders..? true? The dealer told me frankly that I should "get what I get & don't get upset"... is this their truely their motto? or just presently due to supply issues? I am shocked to hear this from the manager when I walked in with cash in hand to order the car I wanted- so figured I would check in here. I'm fine with waiting if there's an eventual end in sight- but not if there's no foreseeable resolution. any insights? (eying the SX- Prestige pkg- towing pkg- AWD- w cross bars- any colors in/out)

Where are you? Find another dealer. Lots of people around the country have orders in.

False.

Sounds like a crappy dealer. Go elsewhere.

Why are so many dealers saying this? It blows my mind.

I don't know exactly. However, it is true for all other Kia vehicles. Perhaps they aren't educated yet.
so wait- that IS their motto for their other vehicles? i will definitely shop around for another dealer as there are plenty by me in the tri-state NJ/NY/PA area. surprised to hear them tell me that they don't swap cars with other dealerships either. I was willing to drive down to the plant & place an order directly- and say just make it happen! LOL

I placed an "order" yesterday as the dealer didn't have the color we wanted so it's going to get from another dealer that has it. Will also depend on the accessories you want as some are factory installed. You should be able to order as a lot of members on this and other forums have ordered and waiting for thier cars.

Yes.

Also, some dealers don't play well with others. Bc of that, the other dealers will not trade with them OR if they do trade, the dealer who has the car you want will keep the mfr hold back, thus cutting into the profits of the one who doesn't play nice.

It seems you truly need to find another dealer. Please put them on the "bad dealer" thread so others will avoid them. Kinda learn from your experience.

Went in Kia dealer in MA today. Was told they ae making 40k Tellurides and only 12% of that wll be SX.

This dealer told me 2 weeks ago the wait was 6-8 weeks, today they told me 3-4 months.

They aso want $2,000 non refundable deposite to custom order one.

I want Ebony Black SX with Prestige, sounds like it will be end of summer befor I get one.

Non-Refundable?? That’s crazy. Ive talked to two dealers in the Minneapolis area and they will both order with a “refundable” deposit.

Only 4,800 SX models? The dealer may have been told that, but those plans will certainly be changing. It is all a ploy to get people to buy them now now now at as close to msrp as possible.

Agree 100%. I walked out the door. They know they would sell it even if I backed out.

agree 100%. no way I am putting $2000 down non refundable.

One way to do this is to look at what your dealer has allocated/coming in on order right now, My last new vehicle I just altered a vehicle that he had already ordered for stock right before it 's change cutoff date...... and it was a hot ticket too like the Telly… Actually got it sooner than a brand new "Custom Order" He held it for me with a 500.00 fully refundable deposit. They would have sold it anyways quickly no matter how it was spec'd so no real risk for the dealer either...

they would not show me / tell me what was coming in. They have 7 tellurides on the lot but all are lower models. I want SX with prestige In Ebony Black and Gray interior. It is a shame because I wold of bought today on the spot.

Kia might lose me as a customer if I have to wait til August to get this.

This is just crappy dealer if they would not show you. Other dealers will show you and can even see what is allocated at other dealers but you have to get a good dealership and just as important a good sales person. Also, I think its important to keep in mind that you can purchase from someone not in your local area if you are able to locate a good dealer and good sales person. I have had several luxury vehicles shipped from areas like Nebraska to Texas with only paying $500 or less out of pocket, which was worth it for the savings I received on the vehicle. Might be worth looking into if you can not find a reputable dealer in your area.

Kia and Hyundai have severely underestimated the demand for their new midsize/3-row CUVs (which is something they have done for their other CUV models).

Hyundai has been having trouble keeping up w/ the back-orders for the Palisade in Korea and they finally got the union to agree to increase Palisade production (union would only agree if Hyundai cut back on a production of another model - a commercial van).

Unions have too much power if they can tell a company what they can and can not make.... wow.

Kia is selling these things at a price too low. They should raise the price to balance supply and demand.
