If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Just put down a deposit of $2.5k for the model we've been drooling over for about a month. $5k over MSRP, fully loaded. It is being delivered June 15 to CA.
In SoCal most dealers are asking between $8k and $15k "market adjustment" PLUS $2k to $5k for low-value dealer "add-ons" with egregious markups. So I finally found a dealer that will do it for "only" $5k over MSRP of $50.7k. And no dealer-add-ons. Any thoughts on this deal? According to TrueCar, for my zip code, this is on the border of a "Great" price (less than 10% markup), and a "Fair" price.

Not sure I want to pull the plug on my deposit/order in anticipation of a shift in the market and/or the 2022 models (who knows when those will start shipping, and how much of a price increase there will be). I don't foresee dealerships dropping their markups, I've called all over this great country of ours and they're all pretty consistent. I also don't believe any promises from dealerships about ordering 2022s at no markup (most, but not all dealers are slimy liars who bait and switch, or drop bombs on you when you arrive). Anyhow, I'd be interested to hear from others with this particular vehicle (2021 SX Wolf Gray with NF-SXP-Tow), especially those in SoCal with their thoughts on this deal. Thanks!!

Well, it depends what that kind of money means to you and how urgently you need it. You can have it in 2-3 weeks at 5k over, or in maybe 3-8 months at $1500 to $2000 over from Muncie or i25 (with shipping, not including possible msrp increase on '22).

So, that's a judgment call. I decided to wait 2-3 months extra to save 3K. If I "make" an extra $1000 to $1500 a month from those savings, that's significant money to me. To someone who makes 15K a month, it might not be a big deal and they'll pay the difference to have it in 2.5 weeks from now. 🤷‍♂️

Someone else might have plenty of money, but their principle says they have to wait and get the best deal no matter what and / or because they're not going to let the dealer gouge them. Personally I wish no one would pay mark-up so dealers wouldn't be jacking up prices. But we all know supply and demand doesn't work that way.

Can't go wrong with AWD SX N/T/P! I think Wolf Grey / Nightfall looks really nice. It's not my most favorite, but it's nice and totally subjective. It seems to be a color type (non metallic grey) that's gaining some traction in the top tier brands. I've recently seen an audi and a porsche in a similar color and they stand out.

Like you said, I don't think markups are going to be coming down from where they are for a while. Maybe not till sometime next year? It sounds like you've done your due diligence and if you feel good about spending a difference of maybe 3K to have it 3-8 months earlier, I don't think there's anything wrong with that as long as you feel good about it and can afford it.

Whatever you do, show us some pics when you get it!

Hey thanks for all your feedback! I feel very good about the car and pretty good about the deal and the wife wants it NOW. I make a good living, but $5k is indeed meaningful, so I may do one last gasp effort to get it around MSRP, and if it works, hopefully I can get my deposit back.... I'm in CA and I used my credit card and didn't sign anything, so I think I'm good, but I'm sure the dealership wouldn't be happy....

I have had my 2021 SXP Wolf Gray with tow for two weeks. I absolutely love this ride! I was very nervous that I would have buyers remorse sending $50,825 on a vehicle (all previous cars were used and less than $24k). I am extremely happy with my new ride. I paid msrp + tax + $250 doc fee.

Previous I was in the no way would I pay above msrp. In your situation in Cali and if I had the disposable income, I probably would. If you got time and are okay with potential increase in msrp then you could find other dealers outside of Cali and wait for months. Wolf Gray SXP do seem a little more elusive. I absolutely love the look and ride. No regrets.

Replacing a 2011 Sorento SX I bought new 10 years ago. My daughter named the Sorento "Mia the Kia" and we are sad to see her go. Great car still in excellent shape, but it was time to splurge on
the best bang-for-buck vehicle on the market. Daughter is still getting to know the Telluride, but she's thinking of naming her "Teli".
