Downward pressure from Mazda CX-90?

Hello,

We're looking at becoming a first-time Kia and first-time Telluride owner. Obviously the Telluride has been compared to the Hyundai Palisade from the get-go. But with the introduction of the Mazda CX-90, does anyone see a break from "market adjustments" and perhaps even feeling lucky at just MSRP? I'd appreciate any thoughts or insights, especially if there's a strong reason to wait 4-8 months for a Telluride.

There have people who have been predicting the markups would go down for the Telluride every year since 2019. If people keep paying the markups, they aren’t going anywhere.

I see other factors like the economy, interest rates and rising dealer stock having more of an impact on Telluride pricing than any specific vehicle like the new Mazda. If anything I see KIA bringing back some rebates to keep the Telluride the Selluride that they've gotten so used to. Time will tell. Us Americans love our debt too so who really knows.

I agree with this. The economy, at the moment, is very strong (particularly the labor market). It's so strong that the fed is signaling a continued strategy of raising interest rates to battle inflation. Eventually, that will impact consumer interest rates and may impact pricing. But when that will be is anyone's guess. It *seemed* like the fed was satisfied with the drop in inflation rates in January, then - boom - a half million added jobs showed the economy is still red hot. That got them worried again and they're back to raising rates again. This is very complex and difficult to predict, regardless of soundbites from either party. If you choose to wait, that's understandable, but I certainly wouldn't *count on* any significant markup changes in 2023.

Hey, after a year of waiting I'm excited to finally have a delivery date on our Telluride. Very excited and wouldn't want any other vehicle. But waiting a year has been a bit much. If there were a solid alternative outside of a $5K plus markup? Maybe I don't wait a year.
