Yes, I have a 2020 same thing happened with mine. As well as it using several courts of oil after oil chang. I could not get an earlier appointment with dealership to have it looked at and and the dealer finally looked at it and says the engine locked up. Now fighting with the warranty company because they a saying this model engine is not the one that is failing as well as not having 2 spark plugs replaced at 97,00 miles which I had no clue needed to be done. I am so frustrated.

There are close to 39,000 members of this forum. Yes, engines do go bad, but relative to the number of members of this forum and the number of Telly’s on the road (over 400,000) engine failures are an insignificant number.

My friend is a technician at Kia. He has worked at other brands. He says that he has replaced more engines than any other brand and he chooses to drive a Toyota.

Hope he doesn’t have a 2022 or 2023 Tundra or Lexus. Over 102,000 engines will need to be replaced under a massive recall. I don’t think any other manufacturer has been faced with anything close to that. In the meantime, good luck selling your 2022-2024 Tundra or Lexus.

My 2020 Telluride engine was replaced at 38k miles because it decided to grenade itself after drinking all the oil at the rate of one quart per thousand miles. So I actually speak from experience. I think the telluride is a good car, but Kia has a history of engine failures. That they won’t issue a recall for. In the long run, Toyotas are more reliable. There’s actual hard data that shows that. Yes they have an issue with a certain recent engine design which they’ve acknowledged and are recalling. I’ve owned many brands and the worst ones I’ve experienced have been bmws with electrical issues. I’d bet on Kia over some German brands. Im just honestly sharing my experience with my telluride.

It definitely sucks that you had to have your engine replaced. It’s important, though, to keep things in perspective. The number of Telluride engine failures is very small in relation to overall production. On a forum like this, if someone posts about an engine failure it seems as though everyone who has had a similar problem will post their sad story. That doesn’t mean engines are failing left and right, just that the topic invites those with similar issues to post.

We had a catastrophic engine failure last Thursday. Waiting to hear about a replacement now after reading a bunch of stuff here I’m hoping corporate replaces it.

At 46K miles, my 2020 Telluride took the "dump"' cylinders 1,3, & 5 had oil in them and scored. Long Block engine replacement being done. Dealer has had the vehicle since Feb 5...don't know whether it is time to jump ship after repairs or not. Vehicle was flawless up to this point.

Our 2020 SX with 87,000 miles is in the shop getting the long block replacement.
It’s been in 3 weeks and I found out today that all engines are back ordered in the USA. So pissed.

2022 Telluride EX started rough idle and a check engine light. Within a week, the engine had seized and dealer said there was no oil in it, despite my having regular oil changes. Now waiting on an engine replacement.

How much did you pay? I have a misfire 4 with mine but I don't know what's wrong. Have to get it checked but it does run out of oil within a week.

A family member also owns a Telluride (2021)... it started acting strange at idle and while cruising at a steady speed. When they pushed on the accelerator, it would get up and go no problem. They took it in and the initial diagnosis was a misfire on one or more of the rear cylinders. Upon further review, it has been determined that there are actually "scored cylinders." They aren't sure what the cause was. So.... a new motor will be going in.

Just putting this out there to see if others have had the same experience. Thanks!

Had my entire engine replaced by Kia on the 2021 with only 28k miles on it. It was burning oil like crazy. It definitely solved the issue.
