• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Engine stops momentarily when the vehicle stops on 4-way stop or red lights or on bumper-to-bumper heavy traffic. Engine starts immediately when the brake pedal is released.
It is a good idea to save gas and reduce air pollution. But I think it is better to keep the engine running for about 10 seconds when the vehicle stops on the road. For instance, engine
stops on 4-way stop and restarts immediately when brake is released. When the vehicle stops frequently on bumper-to-bumper heavy traffic, engine stops and restarts frequently. This way,
the battery may drain at a fast rate. So I believe it is better to keep the engine running for about 10 seconds before it stops momentarily. Especially whenever the headlights are on, the
engine should not stop. It should keep running to prevent the battery draining. Let Kia engineers know about this issue. Software update should be available for downloading for those
owners who do not prefer frequent engine stop/restart feature. Saving gas and reducing air pollution is important, but, frequent engine stop and restart may be annoying to some people.

Turn off this feature after starting the car - read the manual - it is the button with an A with a circle around it below gear shift. It's the auto stop/start feature. See thread on forum - can disable permanently by using a business card or something wedged in there to hold it.

See page 5-45. Called "idle stop and go". Each time I start car, I press to deactivate. All in the manual. Read, read, read...

There's lots of discussion threads about auto Start/Stop on this forum and if you want to read through them, you'll see that almost no one likes the feature and want to get rid of it. But it is more of a governmental regulation than a vehicle manufacturing issue at this point. Things like this will only get worse the more regulations the government puts on auto makers.

They all work the same way, doesnt matter if its BMW, KIA, or Acura.

I agree the Idle Stop and Go function is annoying sometimes, but I decided to enjoy the ISG function rather than complaining.
I leave it on when I drive the roads have more traffic lights. And, turn it off on the roads have more stop signs or on traffic jammed highways.

I did not know about the button. I did not have time to read Owner's Manual. I know now it is a good design. It is just a button, easy to play with. Save gas and environment.
