• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi all. Anyone else have an issue of an exhaust/gas smell in the cabin? It seems like the air is being pulled from the engine, which has these smells. When the recirculating button is on the smells are not present, so it's definitely being pulled in through the fresh air. Had it at the dealer and after 5 days they replaced the cabin air filter, which hasn't worked. I'll take it back, but wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue.

Thanks!

Yes! I am having this problem… as well as the vehicle being extremely bumpy and rough to drive.

There should be no exhaust gas leaking anywhere the engine area. I would be checking the exhaust ports to make sure there is not a leaking manifold gasket, also checking all the joints, bolted and/or clamped starting from the engine and going rearward. If you can rent or borrow an infrared camera that would be a good tool for finding hot spots/aka leaks. A rubber hose to listen for leaks might also work. A leak of any size will also make some noise.

Also check the state of the rubber seals on your tailgate, and alignment of the tailgate. Often an overlooked source of exhaust gasses entering the cabin of SUV's, hatchbacks, wagons. Especially if there was prior rear end damage. Even if it turned out to be minor damage. Find a shop with a smoke generator to check it out. Good example video here.

Enjoy the ride video

nothing to add on this but i do find that when my wife starts the car in the garage and then leaves and closes the garage it stinks the whole garage up while my 11 year old car doesn't do this...she's not letting it warm up or anything just starting it up, pulling out and closing the garage which traps the smell...wreaks

Yes I'm having the same issue when the ac is on or I'm on the Fwy over 60 to 75 mph exhaust fumes start coming in to the cabin. I'm glad I'm not the only one
