Failcat question

I just placed my order over the weekend & have been reading all the threads. Got into failcat & saw where I guess vin # created at end of month & even today and they are all 2021. I thought anything after May 1 is supposed to be 2022. Can someone explain? Maybe I don’t understand the created date listed in failcat.

You won't see your order in FC for a couple months best case scenario. They stopped taking 21 orders, but they are still building 21's, haven't switched the factory over to 22's yet. We ordered 3/29 and ours is going to end up being a 22 it seems. Unless your dealer is a very high volume dealer, you should get yours by year end.

When you place an order at a dealership it is placed into their KDealer system. Typically once a month the factory ordering system, KFOS, opens and pulls orders from KDealer for all dealerships. KFOS accepts a pre-determined number of orders per dealer (their monthly allotment/allocation). Once the order is accepted into KFOS there is still typically 1-2 months until it is physically built at the West Point plant. VIN's are assigned as one of the last build phases. Failcat scrapes data daily looking for new VINs. When a new VIN is found it generates that information on the website in table form with that date.

As an example my Telluride order was placed with Kia of Muncie early December. That order was picked up by KFOS as part of their April allotment . My VIN showed up on Failcat 5/27 and I confirmed with the dealer yesterday it is tentatively scheduled to deliver around 6/14.
