• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Just wondering what will I be missing if I do not signup for UVO. I understand the remote start from the App but is there any major consequences for not signing up?
Seems UVO more of a pain to deal with. Maybe I missing something?

Some useful features I’ve seen:
  • Remote Start from anywhere if your phone and car has cell service. While being able to set climate temp.
  • Schedule the car to remote start (two timepoints max)
  • Remotely lock/unlock from anywhere

The rest of the features are alerts:
  • Car was left unlocked
  • Rear occupant detection (ie. forgot your kid)
  • Valet alert
  • Geofence alert
  • Speed alert
  • Recall alert
  • Car systems malfunction detected
All of these functions need to be paid for 2nd most expensive subscription plan when your 1 year trial ends. The most expensive plan allows you to remote start using Alexa/Google Assistant.

UVO will also track your trips (locations, distance and avg speed) Which could be a con depending on how you look at it.

As a 2021 owner you don’t really need to activate UVO since remote start is on the FOB. Only real world benefit would probably be internet search for points of interest using the UVO navigation. If you use it.

Thank you for the reply. Yes the UVO navigation is a negative but thinking I can always update maps with a usb drive download. Maybe the assistant from UVO button next to the sunroof buttons could be considered as a possible negative as it would not be activated.

Is the weather portion of the screen dependent on UVO?

As of the 14.0 update, yes. It uses connected services (UVO) rather than often unavailable HD radio data.

I activated UVO, and I don’t feel the benefits outweigh the fact that Kia knows everywhere you take your car. I can’t seem to find where I can cancel the service and fully disconnect. Anyone know how?

2020 Telluride here. I’ve said this here before, but any service that exists solely to collect your personal data (FB, Google, etc...) should be FREE. UVO wants $25+ per month so they can track my every move? Go F yourself, UVO.

$25 a month for weather updates when I’m too lazy to plug my phone in

After what I paid, I wasn't expecting to be nickeled-and-dimed with the lame UVO app, and decided not to subscribe just to have remote start (which should have been an included feature). KIA needs to rethink that BS.

Call the UVO call center and ask to deactivate?

Kia can likely track your vehicle whether or not you have UVO. Just because they don't offer you services, doesn't mean they don't have access to your information.

The dealer I bought from (Palm Springs Kia) added on the cost of the tracking device (StarGard or some such) to my purchase price, which I thought was pretty lame. They tried to pitch it as something that was good for me but I understood it was a CYA for them, and I was pissed they were passing THEIR cost onto ME. I protested mightily in the Finance office...but they only had two Tellys, and only one that I wanted after five months of research and seeing this particular one still available.

$oooo...I took the whipping. Pretty sure they expected me to, and I didn't disappoint :-(

I concur on your first sentence...but your second point is not entirely true. I get the hyperbole...but it's a service; where you get something for the subscription you are paying.

Arguments can be made regarding the cost and all the other "features" that should let customers choose to enable/disable (e.g. tracking), but I'm pretty sure that can be another long discussion.

Just my .02

I did the update recently on my '20. My UVO expired in July. Never had weather before because there aren't any HD radio stations in my area. Since the update, I now have the Foreca weather. Apparently it's free (the only free thing with Kia).
