• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Just need a bit of a sanity check here. We have a 2020 Telluride. Whenever we park in our garage for example, the sensors go off and warn that we are getting too close to a wall, the other car, yada yada. This has always worked without any issue. So to further clarify, we are not in cruise control, we are going less than 5mph.

Something happened in the last few months where this feature does not work unless we put the car in reverse for a second and then immediately back in drive. So I can repeat the exact same steps of parking in my garage, get close to a wall, and nothing. Shift to reverse, and immediately back to drive, and then boom, sensors are warning me.

I've taken it to the dealership twice now. The first time I showed them the issue and they (and Kia of NA) agreed it's a problem. I just went to pick it up again (because the back sensors are also having issues now too), and they told me that it's by design and it never worked the way I said it did. Obviously that's frustrating because it 100% worked that way.

So basically, just wanted to know if any other drivers can confirm - if you are driving 5mph or less, and get close to something, do your sensors go off?

Thanks!

Should work front and rear. It's listed in the 2020 Owners Manual under Parking Distance Warning System. The manual has a number of listed conditions where it might not work, such as the sensor being frozen.

Thanks so much! I’ll take a look at that section. We’re in Florida so definitely not frozen :)

That's it!!

Thank you thank you! Couldn't remember what it was called and they were trying to convince me its related to forward collision warning stuff (going as far as to print the pages of the manual and telling me to RTFM).

We live in FL, so definitely not a freezing issue. I'll review this section, and follow up with them.

Thanks again!

PDW-F is not always consistent if you rely on it to self activate when pulling in front of an object ie. garage wall or guard rail at a parking lot.

If you press the SVM button by the E brake, should activate the sensors without having to shift to reverse.

Yeah, you bumped the button at some point.

Next time you get in the car, before you move, make sure it’s on. If not, push it to turn it on.

It’ll come on when you shift into reverse even if it wasn’t on already.
