Sure it's possible. You can see from the side shot I attached how much clearance there is.Can you curb your spare wheel on a steep incline or decline?

Thanks for the pictures! That's about how low I thought they would hang. I would be afraid of the spare getting caught on something while on the trail. I'll just have to hope my Green Slime or patch kit will do the job because it'll suck getting out using the donut.Sorry late to this thread. i have a matching aftermarket full size wheel and tire that i stow as my spare tire. it easily clears the factory tow hitch assembly. sure, it hangs further down then the spare but if i ever need to use, i am good to go. plus if i curb one of my wheels, i got a spare ready to go. win win.
Yeah, i have the tire repair kit and air compressor packed in the storage bin too. that storage bin can hold a ton of stuff! Thanks for the pictures! That's about how low I thought they would hang. yeah, something always happens no matter how much you've prepared! sigh..... lolWith my luck, I'll still get hung up on something. I still don't know how I clipped my exhaust tip. I've also caught that center bumper trim where the tow hitch would be. Maybe I should get a lift kit...View attachment 8396
sorry, but it looks awful. It’s like some brands don’t close the inside of the suspension and exhaust system and it all hangs out.Sorry late to this thread. i have a matching aftermarket full size wheel and tire that i stow as my spare tire. it easily clears the factory tow hitch assembly. sure, it hangs further down then the spare but if i ever need to use, i am good to go. plus if i curb one of my wheels, i got a spare ready to go. win win.

Hi. I was also wondering about the spare and whether a full size would work. Have not taken delivery yet. Are those 18” wheels on your EX?Sorry late to this thread. i have a matching aftermarket full size wheel and tire that i stow as my spare tire. it easily clears the factory tow hitch assembly. sure, it hangs further down then the spare but if i ever need to use, i am good to go. plus if i curb one of my wheels, i got a spare ready to go. win win.

All Telluride tires have the same width and height regardless of the wheel size (18” or 20”).Hi. I was also wondering about the spare and whether a full size would work. Have not taken delivery yet. Are those 18” wheels on your EX?
Thanks. Appreciate the quick reply, and the link. All Telluride tires have the same width and height regardless of the wheel size (18” or 20”).
It looks like their aftermarket wheels/tires are actually 19”, but do match the stock tire width and height.
If you mounted any regular Telluride wheel and tire in the spare area, you would have it hanging down exactly as pictured in the post you quoted.
Any idea on whether a 265/60-18 would fit in the same space saver spot? Will I lose another 10mm in clearance (1/2 of 265-245 width) or the full 20mm width difference?Sorry late to this thread. i have a matching aftermarket full size wheel and tire that i stow as my spare tire. it easily clears the factory tow hitch assembly. sure, it hangs further down then the spare but if i ever need to use, i am good to go. plus if i curb one of my wheels, i got a spare ready to go. win win.

Hey Jax!Any idea on whether a 265/60-18 would fit in the same space saver spot? Will I lose another 10mm in clearance (1/2 of 265-245 width) or the full 20mm width difference?
Regarding the second question, I wasn't sure how well the full size sits inside the "dome" so I thought it could either be the full 20mm or only half of it. Diam of 245/60-18 = 29.575" (751.2mm). Diam of 265/60-18 = 30.520" (775.2mm). Also, did you need to make any modifications to the hardware that holds the spare in place to accommodate the full size tire?
I have a 2021 telluride. I bought a 2020 rim (loooks like new) off of eBay and had a full sized tire mounted on the rim and it obviously shows a little at the under carriage but it fits fine. If you have a flat on the road presumably you would have to put the flat under there if the vehicle is loaded with kids and luggage. Will a full size spare tire fit where the donut spare is now?
