Full sized spare?

Will a full size spare tire fit where the donut spare is now?

if nobody answers this, our plan is to jack up our vehicle and go thru the process of 'changing ' the tire to see if the full size tire fits where the donut spare is stored (we don't have our telluride yet)

We also are still waiting for delivery but on my 2017 Honda Pilot, a 20" full size OE wheel replaces the donut. I have read it would not fit if I had the Honda trailer hitch.

But why? Lol Just enter the two tire sizes in an online tire comparison chart to see the size difference and see if the space between the stock spare tire and that muffler heat shield would allow the difference.

We always go thru the process of a tire change when we get a new vehicle for the same reason that we always set up a new tent in the yard before using it for camping

Ah, the way I read it was that you were going through all that trouble just to see if a stock sized tire would fit under there. I'm not that ambitious anymore. Ha

If I had to guess, I would say no becuse donuts are always not was wide as full size tires. The retainer that holds it up looks like a steel tire too, so probably wouldn’t securely fit around alloy rims.

I finally got around to checking out the spare tire. It looks like having a full sized spare under there would hang too low for even the easiest of forest roads. Pretty disappointed Kia; a 4-pin connector, no recovery hooks, and no full sized spare option.
One more thing, you're going to want to add a flathead screwdriver to the toolkit to remove the little panel where you lower the tire.

That's what my Pacifica came with. If you get the vacuum, you lose the spare. I had to buy my own spare and put it in the stow-n-go well. Fix-a-flat is useless on anything other than a nail in the top tread.

Sorry late to this thread. i have a matching aftermarket full size wheel and tire that i stow as my spare tire. it easily clears the factory tow hitch assembly. sure, it hangs further down then the spare but if i ever need to use, i am good to go. plus if i curb one of my wheels, i got a spare ready to go. win win.

Yes self installed factory hitch and 4pin. I dont need the 7pin for now.

I would sure hate to use that setup in the middle of winter where I live if I got a flat.
