If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Has anyone found out were to place the tow hooks front and rear?

Has anyone found out were to place the tow hooks front and rear in case you need a flat deck towing. Or need to be pulled out of ditch or what ever. The towing company I showed the vehicle to says it can't be done without some damage to the vehicle due to no tow hooks on the vehicle. If hooked in front near engine plastic panel will be damaged due to angle of the cable and if hooked from the rear must be hooked to wheel tab which will damage and throw out the wheel alignment. I'm wondering if people that have vibrations issues is due to tie down area during shipping? Please I realy like an answer on this. Thanks!
Just this week we slide to the side of the road due to snow. Several very kind folks stopped by to help but what the heck NO TOW HOOKS???? I agree totally, for the price shouldn't there be tow hooks. After this incident, we are putting the thing up for sale and going back to Jeep. Also, those headlamps are the absolute worst and the screen that rarely works as intended. Unsatisfied.

My mechanical engineer friend and I have designed a bolt on set for the rear and a bolt on for the front in which you cannot see them. It will be a few weeks before I install them as the machine shop is very busy at the moment. I showed the blue prints to my dealer and tow company found the idea and design very ingenious. Problem solved for me. Will have pics when completed and I may apply for a patent as this design will fit other vehicles with slight modification to the part. The idea is to have something with no modification or drilling required on the vehicle , its strictly bolt on job that should require no more than a 1/2 hr. I probably won't bother with a mass production due to no one had any concerns about this issue. Please tell me how to delete this thread.

Bear - Did you get around to installing your tow hooks?

This guy did a great job.

Use basket straps for a four point strap down on a flat bed. No need for hook points. And j Hooks for recovery on the axle

@Familyman20 has a pic which might be useful

Has anyone heard whether @Bear friend is offering his recovery hook solution yet? I plan to order a Telly and wonder if Kia is adding the screw-in recovery hooks to the new models coming out. I saw in a previous thread the Middle East versions also have the pop off covers and screw-in recovery hooks like the Canadians (I think the screw-in hooks clip into a spot near the screw driver or jack). The pop off cap is above the passenger side fog light. I really only need a recovery point for the front. I'll use a Factor 55 HitchLink 2.0 for the receiver in back.

@Bear bumping this old thread to see if you could post pictures of your DIY recovery points.

I had two tow hooks installed in the front, welded onto the main frame where the bumper bar is attached, and welded onto the bottom of bumper bar itself. The tow hooks came from Hyundai, the same part number as the Kia Telluride. The nice part was that they exit in the plastic grill, so you don’t tear into the bumper cover.

I wonder if the need came to use them that it would cause damage?
My Telluride has the factory foglight. Hmm

The consensus of my mechanic and the Owner at the custom shop is that it’s stronger than the screw in type which occurs at the same location, which is available in Palisade. No damage is expected. I wanted to mount a front hitch as well, but they agreed that the bumper bar alone was too thin to support it, and the hitch being marketed by e-trailer would not fit properly.

How much did it run you to do this ?

What’s part number for them?

Reviving this thread.

Hoping OP can share the part numbers for those hooks... and the procedure done to add them...

By the looks of it. Front bumper was removed and then they welded the tow hooks on each side. Of course they had to measure to make sure when putting the front bumper back the hooks go right through the openings. Here is a picture showing the tow hooks that were used. Hope it helps. I circled the part number.

My ideal solution would be to have tow threaded sleeves professionally welded and tested so that the recovery hook could be inserted and removed through the black plastic part of the grille.
