Help fix scratch - recommendations

Hey everyone. I just sanded down this scratch with 3M stuff. it's down to the metal. What would be the best process to fix it? Paint then clear coat? Or do I need a base? Tks

I’m no expert but I’ve done this once and I sanded it down to get the surface smooth. I then hit it with automotive primer where there was bare metal. Let it dry. Did a very fine grit sanding to make sure the surface was smooth. Then I did a spray coat. Let dry. Second coat if needed. Then finish with clear coat.
