HELP!

My gf didn’t get enough oil changes on her 2020 Kia telluride. So now it needs a new engine per the service center. They quoted her at 14k for a new engine. She owes 6k left on it. Please don’t scold her for the oil. We’re “hoping” for a goodwill request miracle but not holding our breath.

What should she do? New car? Pay 14k? Get another quote? It seems like a lot… thanks!

The engine is seized? My son did the same thing with an old truck he bought when he was about 18. I simply drove him to a junkyard owned by a guy I raced with and we came home with an engine in the back of my Suburban. I pointed DS to his truck and to the engine and said "Good luck."

That turned out to be one of the best life's lesson that I ever gave him. He is fearless in attacking new problems.

GF probably doesn't want to change out her own engine but local junkyards should be able to give her a few mechanics' names. And remember: Every single car you see on the road has a used engine.
