• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... My gf didn’t get enough oil changes on her 2020 Kia telluride. So now it needs a new engine per the service center. They quoted her at 14k for a new engine. She owes 6k left on it. Please don’t scold her for the oil. We’re “hoping” for a goodwill request miracle but not holding our breath.

What should she do? New car? Pay 14k? Get another quote? It seems like a lot… thanks!

The engine is seized? My son did the same thing with an old truck he bought when he was about 18. I simply drove him to a junkyard owned by a guy I raced with and we came home with an engine in the back of my Suburban. I pointed DS to his truck and to the engine and said "Good luck."

That turned out to be one of the best life's lesson that I ever gave him. He is fearless in attacking new problems.

GF probably doesn't want to change out her own engine but local junkyards should be able to give her a few mechanics' names. And remember: Every single car you see on the road has a used engine.
