If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi, I just signed up for this forum. A little background on why I signed up:

I currently have a lease on a 2018 Honda Odyssey and it expires in March 2021. So I started doing research on 3-row SUV's. My wife really wanted a Honda Pilot but her brother just bought one, so that is out. I looked into the Telluride and couldn't believe how many awards it had won and how great it was! It really has captured my interest and I REALLY want to get one. My wife is debating a VW Atlas instead. She says the common "It's a KIA, I can't drive a KIA". I tried to explain how much the brand has changed in the past 10 years and how great the Telluride is. I even got my 13-year old daughter on my side (mostly cuz she liked the interior mood lighting ;)). I'm slowly working on my wife but not sure if I will get her to finally agree.

I'm anxiously awaiting the 2021 to come out so I can test drive and hopefully put an order on it!

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Good luck convincing your wife! The Telluride really is a better SUV than the Volkswagen Atlas. But you know that already. :p I'm glad you found us! :)

It took me a long time to convince my wife in 2016 that I really wanted to try out a Kia (Sorento) because her response was the same as your wife 😊, after a lot of persistence she only allowed me to lease it which I gladly accepted. So I got the car (SXL) and she had been driving it throughout the three year and did not complain about anything at all which was a miracle (for those who knows my wife 🤣). When I returned the car to dealer and set my eyes on the Telluride she was all for it, so with a ton of research and luck I got my T-Ride SX Prestige on New Year's Day 2020 and my wife is now in love with Kia 😊

That is awesome! Glad she came around. I don't know if it will be that easy to convince my wife. However, I will stay persistent and see. We need to go test drive a Telluride and show her how sweet it is. I also want the SX-P in white. She doesn't like the idea of driving a "Kia". So maybe I can show her the new badge emblems and convince her that way. ;)

The 2020's drive just like the 2021's so get her into one for a test drive? Trust me, we test drove both, the Kia and the Pilot and obviously went Kia (and traded in our 2013 Honda Pilot). There is absolutely no comparison. Honda has gone way down as of late. Funny thing is, I still have a 2004 Pilot that we bought when we got married and it was better than the 2013 in every single aspect. They just don't make Honda's like they used to (a bad thing) and they don't make Kia's like they used to (a good thing). Good luck!!!!!

Thanks for the feedback on the Pilot. My wife's brother just bought a 2020 Pilot, so I can convince her to look away from that. I'm trying to find a time to schedule a test drive so my plan can take place:
1. Get her to fall in love with the ride during the test drive
2. Get the kids on my side (my daughter is slowly already on my side)
3. show her how affordable the SX-P is in White/Dune (she always wanted the brown leather)
4. convince her that other brands are too expensive and not even close to what you get for the Telluride (she was very interested in a used MDX, QX60; but those look outdated and don't offer anything close to the T-ride, and are well over $50K)
5. show her the new emblems to get her over the "Kia" old persona that she has
6. put a deposit down and hopefully get one in Mar 2021

:sneaky:

#1 - easy once you get her into the car.
#2 - SX-P have super f#cking comfy captains chairs and they are both heated and cooled. I have a 12 and 14 yr old and they love them. I also have a 5 yr old in the back, she just gets a seat, lol
#3 - should be easy if you compare what's out there
The rest should've easy. For emblems, there is an emblem store on this site, just look at the top.

We have a moss/blk sxp and could not be happier. getting ready to drive from nm to mi in it!

good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement! I know the plan seems like it should work, but I'm not sure it will... fingers crossed...

My wife saw the "T" emblem and loved the idea of replacing the original. Our last name begins with a T so she thought it would be perfect.

Our last name starts with "K" so I'm hoping the K badges entice her.

So, update on my buying process. I finally got a VIN and the ETA is 3/4!!! So excited.

Yesterday, we got a call from Acura to see the new 2022 MDX. My wife really likes it and wanted to see it to. She REALLY wanted to get it instead of the Telly.

Some thoughts on the 2022 MDX:
- model reviewed: SH-AWD, Tech Package, MSRP $55K
- definitely an improvement over 2020
- all new interior: new console, nice large screen (not touch though!?!), updated digital dash
- size: this was our biggest concern in getting a 3 row SUV, how much size for all 3 rows, the MDX is bigger than previous models, but not nearly big enough to be comfortable
- the sales guy said they have the biggest 3rd row of any car maker, and i nearly blurted out about the Telly... but held back
- 3rd row: no AC vents, no USB ports (only available in Advanced which is at $61K)
- no heated steering wheel (only in Advanced)
- no 360 camera (only in Advanced)
- only heated front seats, heated/ventilated only offered in Advanced, heated 2nd row only in Advanced
- much improved cargo space
- no HUD, only in Advanced
- complicated mousepad style interface to change screen
- seemed a bit cramp in front row
- didn't drive all that smooth or powerful to me (maybe cuz it was brand new?)

So, my wife came around to the fact that the MDX (even though it is the car of her dreams), is not practical for our family (cost, space, features). She finally agrees that the Telly is our best option. I'm glad she finally has come around. However, she still can't get her head wrapped around the "Kia" name. I showed/told her that I would do a badge update and she really liked the Big T ones (I just wish the front/back come out with overlays, i'm scared to try to debadge myself).

Seeing the MDX better assured me that the Telly is the best option for my family. I'm even more excited now for it!!!

Nice comparison 👍

Have your wife drive around with Kia badge for a while. She will fall in love with the car and would be proud to drive a Kia. Plus she will love the "Is that a Kia?" comment at every fill up. ;)

If you don't want to re-badge yourself, give Huntley Collision a call. They've done some work for me in the past and were great. Price should be reasonable. Heck, if the weather is warm enough, come by me and I will take it off for free. No warranties from me though. :D

I will hold you to that offer if I don't take it to Huntley or try myself... ;)

I will be happy to drive over to Elgin and kick the tires for you. :P J/K. Congratz on the car, it seems like it's only been few weeks for your car to come in.

YES !!! Congratulations on your Telly arriving at the dealership !!!

Pick it up this evening if you can because if you don't, you'll be worried about random car shoppers accidentally scratching your Telly on the lot if you don't.

On December 1st, 2020, Hilltop Ford/Kia called me 20 minutes after I left the dealership (we were there with Lewis ordering the OEM Carpeted Cargo Mat w/ Seat Back Protection, OEM Cargo Cover, OEM All-weather Floor Mats and OEM Wheel Locks which never made it into my order when KFOS finally picked it up) telling me my Telly just came off the truck !!! 😍

I almost turned around but ended up just going to the family home and parking since I was so close anyway.

I spent a sleepless night counting the minutes until I could get to the dealership first thing the next morning, looking like a crazed psychopath maniac, just to pull into the lot, see my Dark Moss Telly in front of the sales office, and also see some prospective buyers checking out my Telly, thankfully from the outside and not leaning on the quarter panels or anything. No need to give them the mile-long stare or anything drastic. They even asked, "Your car?" and when I nodded they said, "Nice!" and I was immediately put at ease. 😅

Paperwork shouldn't take you too long, and you know what to do in Finance, so savor every moment, snap a photo of the odometer reading, and you know where to post your photos so we can celebrate your new Telly with you !! 🥰

Bring a tire pressure gauge with ya. I forgot to do this and take 10 psi off the tires at the dealership (which arrived with 45 psi of KMMG West Point Georgia air in each!!) until the 71 mile mark after I took her home and a couple short drives, but the tires seem fine, no permanent damage.

I just got to the dealer... Couldn't wait til Friday... Will post pics later!!!
