  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I love my Telluride but . . .

I wouldn’t hold your breath. Two things Mazdas never are, are the largest or most powerful in their class.

We’ll this isn’t very inspiring for Kia…

Why not? It's 1 supposed dealership without facts behind the alleged replacements.

Did you know that roughly 50% of our population does not understand that engine oil is required to be changed? Or that squealing brakes can be an indicator that new brake pads are required?
Haha

from what i gathered on the FB group those were all 1 type of defective engine that they had trouble with

Anyone see that Toyota is releasing a Grand Highlander? Wondering how it’ll compare to the Telluride. It’ll be a hybrid as well.

So, does this mean Telluride in general is bad?
never said that...from what i gather those aren't even telluride engines...i believe they are 4 cyl engines
Seven bad engines at one dealership out of hundreds of thousands of Tellurides and out of hundreds of dealerships is at best anecdotal evidence. If there is a widespread repairs of this type going on, can it just be swept under the rug? Thanks.
i think it was more than 7 but i think these were being replaced under warranty due to being defective in some way...if you were out of warranty well engines and transmissions are not that cheap to replace...and either way you are inconvenienced cause who knows how long it will take to replace them and if they will cover a rental or you have to pay for that too...point is it's not a good look...i'm sure all manufacturers have these issues...

in a similar comparison my subaru now consumes oil at a rate of approx. 1 quart/1000 miles (can't remember at what mileage it started)...there was a class action suit but i didn't get anything out of it cause i was way out of the mileage range that they would do anything about it...in hindsight i wouldn't have bought the car if i knew about this defect and it somewhat turned me off to subaru so i'm still on the fence if i would go back to them with my next car...i don't want to but i like the outback for cargo space (depth) while not getting into a true suv (would be nice if they made a hybrid version for mpg)...i like that my car is awd with new england winters and oil changes are really easy with the inverted filter on top of the boxer engine and a futmoto valve for an oil plug...but i am only getting about 25mpg now which is close to some suvs and trucks so that's not great (an outback would be similar i would imagine)...having to stop and pour a quart in every 3 weeks or so sucks (but not as inconvenient as an engine swap)...the bluetooth skips sometimes also...but other than that i have had to put brakes, tires and oil/filter changes for the most part...it's never been back to the dealer just my local mechanic...at a certain mileage i turned into a youtube mechanic and watch videos to fix things that are not terribly difficult and i have the tools to do cause the car owes me nothing at this point...i'm just trying to get a few more years out of it if possible to avoid having 2 car payments cause the telluride payment is not cheap...at this point i'm leaning heavy towards a hybrid camry to replace it when the time comes but i would really like a hybrid wagon by a reliable non-premium manufacturer but there are not many wagons out there (volvo, audi, vw, bmw & mercedes)

I agree. Mazda appeals to people who currently owned one and knew its shortcomings (size, power) but still go back to it because of style, sport car-like handling and reliability. My son (early 30s) just upgraded to CX-9! They have a 50 lb dog and is waiting for their first child. Another friend has two kids and had also just replaced a leased CX-9 with another CX-9. Thanks.
