• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... The instrument cluster failed in less than 30 days on my new 2021 Kia Telluride LX. Bought the vehicle with only 9 miles on it and I am shocked to take in for service so soon. The engine starts up and the car drives but none of the gauges light up or work in the instrument cluster.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their vehicle or did I end up with a lemon?

This is happening to my 2022 Telluride S that I just bought two days ago! Turning the car off and back on was working at first, but now does nothing. Did you ever find a solution?

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing the same. Our solution was to slowly drive the vehicle with non-functioning instrument cluster to nearest Kia service center. They were aware of this issue and suggested to order and replace the instrument cluster. It took a few weeks since after receiving the order, the new component needed to be sent somewhere else for programming, then sent back to service center for installation. They provided a rental while I waited for repairs. Fortunately, all this was covered under warranty.

My only concern is the reliability of the rest of the components and quality of he build. It would be a pain to deal with such an issue after warranty is expired. This is our first experience with a Kia and we never had such issues with multiple vehicles we owned from Honda, Mercedes Benz, and Range Rover. It would be one thing if the infotainment system failed and I couldn’t listen to my music, but it’s the instrument cluster which is critical to driving safely. You would think out of all the components in the vehicle the instrument cluster should always work.

I hope you’re able to get your issue resolved soon. Please keep us posted.

Well, that’s no fun! I also worry that my forward collision systems aren’t working, but don’t know how to safely test it. I’m also really concerned what this means about the reliability of the electronics… Sounds like you haven’t had any issues since which I guess is good!

I'm wondering if this is a Telly issue only or other KIA cars as well, it doesn't seem like a widespread issue, if it was then there would be a recall as this is a safety hazard.

No issues since. But we have been avoiding using it for longer trips, which was the primary intention of purchasing this vehicle.

I agree! I thought about this. Any clue how to get stuff like this on the recall list?

Very very unfortunate... i hope thats all u guys have to deal with.. something like this can be very frustrating being that it is a new car...

This kind of thing is bound to happen on a few cars of every make and model these days. Especially with so many components. Better for it to happen shortly after purchase than shortly after warranty expiration. Definitely doesn't seem as widespread as some of the other issues.

Have a friend drive in front of you and come to a complete stop with brake lights on, keeping foot on brake pedal. With your Telluride, coast behind the car at low speed and wait as long as you can before braking hard at the last minute. Can also be done in an empty parking lot.

Have seen a few owners with individual gauges not working or stuck (ie. wrong MPH or fuel levels). But having the entire cluster inoperable, have not seen other reports of this.

Can report to NHTSA. This was how the trailer brake light recall was initiated. But since the cluster issue isn’t likely as widespread, it will probably be filled as a single complaint until other affected owners start doing the same.
