In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi! I Just took ownership of a new 2020
Telluride SX AWD Prestige with towing package this week. Black Copper exterior with Dune Brown Napa leather interior. I waited 8 weeks for it after ordering from my dealer and it is truly amazing.

I was wondering what owners thought of the additional interior lighting kit? The interior lighting is spectacular and I was considering adding the kit. My dealer estimates it will be $625.00 to $650.00 which includes the install. Also, are there any concerns about adding the kit after purchase?

Plus, if anybody has any other recomendations for additional accessories (such as the illuminated door sill plate) that they were impressed by, I would love to hear about them!

There's a thread on that if you're interested. I just posted my opinion in that thread yesterday. Search for "Interior Lighting Kit" or scroll a few down in the forum topics in this section.

Lighted door sills are nice - but really just a wasted expense on the SXP as it already comes with nice metal door sills - you'll never see them while driving.

I'd go aftermarket for your lighting needs. For $650, you can get a lot more lighting and customization than the OEM interior light kit. My understanding of it is that it doesn't even dim - just one brightness setting with multiple colors. No thanks.

Here's my additional commentary from the other day - same question (some people confuse with Mood Lighting):

Thank you so much for all of this! Super helpful!

If you are going to install after delivery, might as well go aftermarket. The kit doesn’t sync with the mood lighting in the UVO system anyway, it has its own control switch by the cup holder. It’s really only the front foot wells and cup holders. You also can’t adjust the brightness level for the kit, only on or off. Most aftermarket kits also have footwell lighting for the rear passengers to match.

I have it, and thought it would be cooler than it is for the $. It is neat sticking a water bottle or gatorade in the cup holders at night. And it is pretty nice to have overall. If it bugs out down the road, it's covered by warranty which is a plus. But for $600+ I'd say go aftermarket.

The couple improvements I could see are:
1) I think it's only 4 LEDs. 1 in each cupholder and 1 on driver and passenger footwells. For the $ they should have thrown in 4 more for all footwells in all rows. Heck, maybe 6 more total and cover the 2 cup holders in the rear of the front console too.
2) No linkage with the other mood lighting. Right now we have both set to the same color, but would be nicer if it was all in the center screen for configuration of colors, on/off, and whatnot.
3) Wonky way to turn on/off and switch colors with the single button in the cup holder area, if they linked with center screen options it would be better

Congrats on the new vehicle! Black Copper w/ Dune interior is the vehicle we are patiently waiting for from our dealer. Hopefully within a month. Would love to see pics of your Black Copper!

Our vehicle was already slotted for the Interior Lighting accessory. Seems expensive for what it is. I've seen several YouTube videos showing what it looks like. I would not have paid the extra money for it, but it was a vehicle already slotted for delivery.

I have the kit as well. I didn't have a choice as it came with a car that was for dealer stock. My 6 year daughter loves them but otherwise, they're not worth it. I definitely wouldn't order it after the fact. When ordered from the factory, you're paying over $110 per LED, think of it that way.

I left mood lighting and cup holder lighting out of my SXP order. It's not something I'd ever want turned on at night while I'm driving. Bright lights inside the car make it harder to see outside. Seems like it should be a $150 add-on, but costs several hundred dollars. To each his own, but it would have been just wasted money for me.

They aren't any more of a distraction than the built in ambient lighting. They actually look cool, just not worth $450. I had a similar system back in my old LaCrosse but it illuminated all four footwells as well as the cupholders.

I wanted the lighting on my SXP but read about how the cup holder leds could be distracting to the front passenger. I don’t know if that is true or not but just stating what I read. I purchased a kit from EBay with 4 led strips and a controller that has a usb power source. The kit was 16 ish dollars and was pretty easy to install with no visible wiring. I drilled a 3/8 hole in the console bin (under the armrest) right next to the usb plug. I lifted the piano black console panel straight up by gripping at the console compartment opening, then on both sides of the console, under the dash, there is a panel that pops off simply grip it at the bottom edge and there are two clips. Pull away from the console then it slides off a clip In the front. I fed the power lead from the console into the space below the black top panel and put the controller under there as well and plugged it it. Then I fed the two led panels going under the dash up to the front of the console and reached through the panel holes I opened on the sides. I then secured the strips of leds under the dash where they are hidden from view. The strips for the rear foot wells are placed under the front seats at the rear of the seat cushion. To get these there you will push them from inside the console between the console side and the carpet. Then pull enough wire to feed them in a safe place through the seat rail (safe from getting pinched) I secured mine to a flatter area of the seat fan. This setup is controlled by a phone app, is completely tunable in color and dimmable. I have been able to match all the colors the ambient lighting creates. This sounds like a lot of work, but I was figuring it out as I went, and it took me all of 45 minutes. Well worth it. Edit: The USB plug in the console has the added benefit of being switched with ignition power, so they are on/off automatically.

You got a link of what you used?

I’ll get some good pictures tomorrow night and post them.
Here are some pictures of the install and some purple and orange. These are all at full brightness level.

@Landry looks better than my factory LED kit. Nice work. One question, are the lights always on then when the car is on? Even during the daytime?

I like the bars on top too versus factory style has a light shining from the sides of the footwell.

I feel like I need 2nd and 3rd row foot well lights.

As long as the lights are plugged into the USB port they will be on, so If you want them off just unplug it. The app on your phone that controls them has probably way more features than you will ever need. It even has alternating color flashes for service type vehicles such as red/blue and yellow/green. They are fully dimmable down to a barely there glow. Has the full color wheel plus a white wheel with warm to cool adjustments. As for third row lights those may be harder to install because of the amount of movement of the second row and third row seats when putting them up and down. Also, hiding the wires appropriately would be another challenge.
