• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Took my 22 Telly in for service and asked them to see why my Auto Hold wasn't working. They came back and said that the button still lights up but it appears to have water damage. That answer sounds fishy to me. I've spilled a small amount of water on the inside before but not a copious amount. It seems like the dealership is using that excuse to get out of replacing it. One would think that a switch near a cup holder could withstand a few drops of water.

Any feedback?

Thanks,
Kevin

Your battery is probably getting weak

I think you need to clarify what you’re actually talking about. The auto hold button doesn’t even light up to show state, ever. You only know whether the auto hold system is on by checking in the cluster… the writing “auto hold” there will glow white when the system is in standby and will glow green when you have depressed the brake pedal sufficiently to have it be engaged and holding the brake for you. It will be empty when the system is off.

Are you confusing auto hold with the button right above it (ISG, auto start/stop)? That button will have an amber indicator if you have pushed it to turn that system off, and it will also glow amber if the system is on but not all things have been met to allow the system to temporarily shut off the engine.

No, the auto hold button which is the bottom left button is not working. That button lights up white when the car is on. I'm not getting white/green on the gauge cluster to signify that it's operational.

The auto hold button is just backlit white when the dash lights are on. But that’s it. There is no indicator on the button itself to denote whether the system is on or not. You need to push it to turn it on or off (2020-22 models default to off, so you’d have to push it to turn it on each ignition cycle)… the visual cues that it is on or off are in your cluster as I stated earlier.

Im aware. The dealership told me that the button illuminates but the feature isn't working to do water damage in the switch. If there was water damage, I would think that the backlight wouldn't work either.

I don’t know the details of the button function, but presumably the backlight is totally separate from its actuation when the button is depressed. Ultimately it must not be able to detect that it is being pressed.

Apologies about the confusion… your first post made it sound like you thought there was an indicator on the button that was lighting up to denote it is on.

My apologies.

I just find it odd that they wrote it off as water damage.

Can anyone tell me if the Auto Hold puts any extra wear on the brake pads. Do they fully disengage when you step on the gas pedal, or is there any kind of drag?
