KIA No Longer Accepting 2021 Telluride Orders. KIA Preparing For 2022 Model Year

I ordered mine on April 15th and it's already done being built. Obviously helps that it's not an SX.
Wow! Congrats Tortuga07! I ordered an EX w/AWD, Sangria, Gray Interior (no packages, as we need the bench in the second row). That said, I ordered mine with the dealer on February 15th and it's slated for mid-June... June 22nd to be exact (ETA).

That said, my dealer had a LOT of orders ahead of me, so he had to whittle down his own internal queue or orders before they could submit mine. So if your dealer didn't have a huge pile of "custom" orders per se and could submit yours right away, that certainly helped!

I am hopeful that not a ton of people want the configuration we put in for... And it may be put into the build pipeline sooner than later. We'll see...

No rumors, but have some "would likes" - ha!

NOTE: I don't know the lower-end configurations that well, as I focused in on the EX, so with that:

– EX should get rain sensing windshield wipers standard.
– EX Premium package, or Nightfall, should receive the HUD (love HUDs and it needs to be bled down to lower-end models of all vehicles across the board IMHO)
– SX should get a bench as standard, with upper end packages bringing captains chairs.
I feel like switching back and forth between bench and captain should be a free option on the higher trims like it is with the palisade

My dealer said most of his orders were for the SX currently. Per failcat he's received 6 VINs for EX trims this month.

Welcome to the forum first and foremost.
unfortunately their is not a tracking system for the clients side. The dealer will need to provide updates. Your order will need to be re-entered as a 2022 when Kia allows us to do so. Basically the easiest way to explain where you are at in the process is that your at the deli store and just got a ticket and are in a queue to put your deli order in. No one can take your number in line. But we are having to hold for the 2022 details
Thank you!

First. Thanks to everyone for the great information.
I ordered my SX at the end of January and I have had a hard time getting any reliable information from the dealer. My salesman says the order has been accepted but they haven't heard anything back from KIA. Is it possible that it has been accepted into KFOS and the dealer wouldn't know? He said that they received a Telluride today and they had never been notified that it was being made.

If you make an edit to your existing order (adding an accessory) does it then take you out of the place you were in?
Not during crossover.. As Kia provides information I will share.

Yeah I was worried about this so I called all over last week and found a dealer getting exactly what I wanted in on 5/2... EX Nightfall Gray Wolf. Super pumped I get to snag it ASAP instead of having an open-ended timeline of when I'll get it. I don't really know how this works, but I was also a bit curious if they bump prices a bit more than normal given the crazy out-of-balance supply/demand right now.

Hi All. I placed an order with my dealership (Safford Kia Salisbury, MD) on this past Monday. Blacked out SX NFE. I wanted to add the "Interior Light Kit, Multicolored" and the "Side Step Bars" and the salesperson said those options were unavailable and couldn't add them to order. Now keep in mind, based on this forum, she was probably attempting to order a 2021. Should I even worry about this, because at some point she's going to come back to me and say I have to re-place the order for a 2022?

I'm pretty sure those are dealer-installed anyway, so no I wouldn't worry about it. By the way are you sure you want the light kit? By all accounts I've read around here it's not worth it -- most people say it's a cheap-feeling add-on because it's not integrated with the rest of the interior lighting in any way and has a separate switch to turn it on and off.

Oh thanks so much for responding! I did not know that it was not a part of the interior lightening and has a separate switch. When I look on the car sticker for vehicles, it lists "Interior Lighting $450.00" that is a dealer add-on that you are speaking of? I'm choosing the "Interior Light Kit, Multicolored" from when I do the actual car build on the KIA.com website. I definitely don't want some cheap looking light kit. I was hoping it was like the multi colored ambient lightening available in Mercedes vehicles. See the Variety of Colors Available with Mercedes-Benz Ambient Lighting Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé: Interior Light package (might have to copy and paste these links).

Yeah that's the same thing. It's essentially an aftermarket-style add-on that adds colored lights to the footwell and cupholders (to augment the standard lighting on the dash and doors), but it's a totally separate system with a button in the center console storage area, and is not tied into the SX's normal ambient lighting that's controlled through the infotainment system. Personally I'd skip it.

Here's some info, and some more.

The SX Telluride does have ambient "interior mood lighting" in 64 selectable colors as a standard feature on that trim level. See my Snip blow from Kia's website. They are in the doors and look really nice. The "interior light-kit, multicolored" is different, additional, and lights up the foot wells and front console cup-holders, but like others have said, it's on a separate switch and not synced with the interior mood lighting. I think it also only has 8 colors. I'm all about cool lighting options, but at $450, not worth it to me in addition to the mood lighting already on the SX. I think your salesperson may be mis-informed about selecting it, my sales person didn't even know about it and had to go ask their ordering manager person and he was able to add that with whatever the code is. But I decided not to get it and changed that order later for reasons mentioned.

So back on topic, maybe the 2022 will have those footwell and cupholder lights synced with the Interior Mood Lighting and controlled by the infotainment on SX trims? That would be nice especially if it allowed for independent on/off/door at the footwells and cupholder.

I agree but think it should be this way at LX, EX, and SX trims and get rid of the S. I just think having to shop a particular trim level depending on seat configuration is kind of ludicrous when they've shown in the EX it can be interchangeable. Nothing against the S, but they could simplify their production line to keep costs down and then expand the options for their customers by allowing either 7 or 8 seat configurations in all three remaining trims. Seems like a win/win to me.

Do we know yet what changes there might be for the 2022?

There several threads about that. In short: no, we don't. The most credible rumor suggests a $1500 across the board price increase with no substantive equipment changes.
