I ordered my Telluride EX back on February 15th (hint: mid-west, up the Mississippi river is softest most aggressive pricing I found compared to just about anywhere in the country).

HOWEVER - Each dealer only receives a certain number of order allocations per month (beyond the standard allotment what KIA is shipping them). My order was well down the Dealer's queue (they had take a LOT of orders). Thus, the dealer was not able to get my order in until just a little over two weeks ago or so...

On Saturday, April 10, a dealer calls me (NOT the dealer I ordered from), and claims that their KIA Corporate Regional Manager informed them that the factory is no longer taking orders for 2021 models. Thus, dealers that have taken orders from customers, but have been unable to submit them yet to KIA, those orders will not be accepted.

The dealer wanted to know if my order made the cut? I let him know I was just informed by a KIA Corporate Customer Service rep. my vehicle just made it into KIA's system for build, and that I was okay - but just barely made it in before the cutoff date!

Orders that did not make the cutoff date, those dealers should be reaching out to customers explaining their order didn't make it into KIA in time, and thus the order is cancelled. They'll need to wait another month or so until the 2022 specs and pricing is revealed, select their packages and re-submit their order thru the dealer, and then dealer to KIA... Oh joy.

NOTE: I'm not just taking the dealer's word for it. Rather, KIA Corporate Customer Service validated all of this. 2021 orders are no longer being taken. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the last date for KIA accepting dealer orders was Friday, April 9?...

For me, it's about looking at the daily builds with failcat and seeing when mine is made and the ship date. Estimate as of right now is 6.22 and KIA Corp. Customer Service also gave me the order number... Here's to hoping my "rare duck" combo is built and allocated to my KIA dealership sooner than later.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for sharing! Just found out my end of March 2021 order did not get picked up by Kia, so this gives me great hope that I'll end up with a 2022.

I just ordered mine last night. The dealer told me they don't actually put the orders into Kia until Monday. Does that mean I'll automatically have a '22 ordered?

A order place last Monday will be a 2022.. when we get pricing information and any changes the dealer will call you to see if you would like to edit your order

Thanks! I assume they are placing the order this coming Monday. They said it will probably take 12 weeks. Will they notify me when the order is placed so I can track the progress?

Welcome to the forum first and foremost.
unfortunately their is not a tracking system for the clients side. The dealer will need to provide updates. Your order will need to be re-entered as a 2022 when Kia allows us to do so. Basically the easiest way to explain where you are at in the process is that your at the deli store and just got a ticket and are in a queue to put your deli order in. No one can take your number in line. But we are having to hold for the 2022 details

KIA actually has a window of time each month (it’s not the same window of time and can change - I have no idea why), for dealers to place their orders. Seems to be roughly a 10-day window. Hopefully Monday is when ordering opens this month!

KFOS(our order system) has already opened and closed at the beginning of this month

Makes complete sense. I had forgot they are no longer taking 2021 orders (duh)... I assume the 2022 configurations and pricing may be a bit different, and if that’s the case, each dealer will need to recontact their customers to see what they want and re-order, yes? Any idea when 2022’s will be released for order? I’m assuming that’s at least 4-6 weeks out, yes? I make that guesstimate as mine was submitted the last week of being able to order 2021’s and mine is due to the dealer mid-June... Thus KIA has lots of 2020 build to go until 2022’s are entering the pipeline.

My long winded way of saying - If your dealer didn’t get your order into the factory two-weeks ago, you’re going to be waiting at least another four weeks until they have an opportunity to submit it to the factory. In other words your order was delayed by about a month or more beyond what it would have been if an order made the 2021 cut...

Your spot on. I would agree with everything stated.

So if my order was placed in March, and my dealer informed me last week that I moved up the list but didn’t make it to KFOS so I’m looking at a ‘22 model. I get that.
...But...
Will I still maintain my place in KDealer (number with dealer info followed by date and letter ‘J’) when y’all get updated info? I’m more concerned about going to the end of the line if my salesperson doesn’t contact me right away.

You stay in the exact same order

I ordered mine on April 15th and it's already done being built. Obviously helps that it's not an SX.

Any rumors on model changes?

Haha I like your deli analogy. Just wanted to clarify if we placed our order a few months ago and our order was "filled" last week (4/14) and was given an ETA date for end of June, does that mean we'll be locked in for the MY21? Or won't fully know until we get a VIN? Are you saying regardless if the order was placed to KIA directly last Monday and going forward that it'll be a 2022? Or do you mean order placed at the dealer level to be in the queue?

It's just pretty confusing because our order was "placed" when we first reached out at the dealer level and now it's "placed"/filled at the KIA level. Basically my deli number was called and they're in the process of making my sandwich, will my sandwich be a 2021 or 2022?

apparently so, I placed my order 11 25 2020 (SX AWD Pre) told to expect by end of April, but my dealer has not received a VIN for any SX since April 6th !

No rumors, but have some "would likes" - ha!

NOTE: I don't know the lower-end configurations that well, as I focused in on the EX, so with that:

– EX should get rain sensing windshield wipers standard.
– EX Premium package, or Nightfall, should receive the HUD (love HUDs and it needs to be bled down to lower-end models of all vehicles across the board IMHO)
– SX should get a bench as standard, with upper end packages bringing captains chairs.

Lol...don't we all!

Sandwich will definitely be a 2021.. unless they run out of baloney(parts) then slim chance it will convert to 2022
