I ordered my Telluride EX back on February 15th (hint: mid-west, up the Mississippi river is softest most aggressive pricing I found compared to just about anywhere in the country).
HOWEVER - Each dealer only receives a certain number of order allocations per month (beyond the standard allotment what KIA is shipping them). My order was well down the Dealer's queue (they had take a LOT of orders). Thus, the dealer was not able to get my order in until just a little over two weeks ago or so...
On Saturday, April 10, a dealer calls me (NOT the dealer I ordered from), and claims that their KIA Corporate Regional Manager informed them that the factory is no longer taking orders for 2021 models. Thus, dealers that have taken orders from customers, but have been unable to submit them yet to KIA, those orders will not be accepted.
The dealer wanted to know if my order made the cut? I let him know I was just informed by a KIA Corporate Customer Service rep. my vehicle just made it into KIA's system for build, and that I was okay - but just barely made it in before the cutoff date!
Orders that did not make the cutoff date, those dealers should be reaching out to customers explaining their order didn't make it into KIA in time, and thus the order is cancelled. They'll need to wait another month or so until the 2022 specs and pricing is revealed, select their packages and re-submit their order thru the dealer, and then dealer to KIA... Oh joy.
NOTE: I'm not just taking the dealer's word for it. Rather, KIA Corporate Customer Service validated all of this. 2021 orders are no longer being taken. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the last date for KIA accepting dealer orders was Friday, April 9?...
For me, it's about looking at the daily builds with failcat and seeing when mine is made and the ship date. Estimate as of right now is 6.22 and KIA Corp. Customer Service also gave me the order number... Here's to hoping my "rare duck" combo is built and allocated to my KIA dealership sooner than later.
Hope that helps.
