Kia Telluride production?

Why would they stop production of a product that is selling like hot cakes?.. if anything, they would be temporarily stopping production of other slower movers to expand production.

I heard from my local Kia dealership that Kia was stopping production of the 2020 Telluride. Is this true?

I think they are just saying that they are not taking anymore orders until Fall, so they can catch up on THEIR mistake of not doing their Market Research. Personally I think their research team should have their next position in places that they ask.."Do you want fries with that?" They should have done better. Because of this.,... they will have lost those who ordered one..and the wait went beyond a Lease or a physical need and went to another brand... Average of $35k at a crack can lead to a monetary loss that is a very bad business decision.

When I talked to KIA America about my order I also stated the with the lack of parts to build the new ones...while we wait...some are going to be in accidents... where and how much$$$ are those repair parts and costs going to come from? The assembly line of cars being built for orders? and..scarcity of repair parts WILL jack up Insurance costs as well. A Rock and a Hard spot....

No, this isn't true.

Actually, they stopped production of the 2019 Optima and Sorento early to make more Tellurides.

You, sir, are quite the negative Ned. Seems you will be better off pursuing a different vehicle.

So they basically can not win with you? I think someone should just sit this whole production out. No car company can do what you want from them, so I think maybe a bicycle for you?

Nothing to do with market research. It's a physical production limitation at the factory. As stated above, they've already reduced production of Sorentos and Optimas to get more production for the Telluride.

Anyone blaming market research for a long wait for their order didn't do their market research.

There's only so much production capacity at Kia's GA plant and Kia has to also supply the Canadian, the Middle East and Russia (supposedly are also looking at China).

What Kia's US management did screw up was in underestimating the demand for the higher trims (and in particular the SXP).

They also did something similar w/ respect to the Stinger - underestimating the demand for the GT trims in comparison to the turbo-4.

Going to be interesting to see what Kia USA decides w/ regard to production going forward.

Right now, they have reduced production of the Sorento and Optima to increase capacity for the Telluride, but soon there will be an all-new Sorento and Optima.
