• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... What do you think will be better about the Kia Telluride than the Kia Sorrento? I already know the Telluride will be bigger. Other than that what will make the Telluride the better SUV?

Hi Jennifer. The Telluride is going to be a more premium vehicle. Think K900 and/or Stinger. It's likely going to be a more luxurious experience inside the vehicle - meaning a softer, more compliant ride, better sound deadening technologies, more expensive materials, etcetera. The Telluride will compete with SUVs like the BMW X5. The Sorrento simply does not compete...

it's not a bad question because the sorrento already comes packed with lots of luxury and technology. i think the telluride will be noticeably more powerful, will be able to tow more, and will have the latest and greatest advances in the technologies the sorrento already has. and maybe a few more than the sorrento does not. safety technology is alittle tricky and the korean companies are making it affordable for everyone. while other manufacturers leave the best safety features only for those who can afford them. that seems like really bad business considering the koreans give this stuff away. i mean, you really need to buy your son or daughter the top model e class or s class for them to be safe?

so there probably won't be much of a chance in safety technology. but the telluride will have stuff that the sorrento does not.

I like the sounds of the softer driving and more quiet interior. I guess that would be nvh. That would probably make enough difference for most buyers. More power is also a plus. That combined with more room and better towing capability makes for a very convincing case for a larger suv.

Agree , I bought a Sorento coming from from an X5 and X6 , certainly every bit as funtional , but lacking the lux factor , that said the Sorento in top trim is a great vehicle , I would buy it again , but I'm watching the Telly closely

Yes, my brother in law has a fully loaded Sorento and an X5. He feels the same way you do. They're both great automobiles but the BMW has more wow/lux factor...

I just priced out a fully loaded Sorento on the USA site , if correct , its the same as fully loaded Telly ???

I'll have to remind myself to check tomorrow when I get back to a computer. I wouldn't be surprised if the Telluride is just going to replace the Sorento...

I think the Telly is actually a couple grand less in top trim but is a few grand more in base trim. We have a 2016 Sorento SX-L and it looks like once the Telly comes out, we will be upgrading. Looks like a better design. It will be bigger with much better(usable) back seats with a lot easier access. I'm really thinking the Sorento might actually be replaced by this shortly.. just can't see these two in the same lineup with basically the same price and close to the same vehicle.

thats what i'm thinking also. they're too similar in price, kind of close in size but the telluride is better all around. i bet this will be the last generation of the sorento.

Leg Room:

Sorento: 44.1/39.4/31.7
Telluride: 44.1/42.4/31.4 in.

Huh, that's closer that I thought it would be. I might have to watch for deals on a Sorento once the flashy new Telluride hogs all the glory.

yea good point. the sorento is going to be a great off lease deal. the media talked up the telluride making it sound like a ford excursion. its not a large suv. it's a midsized cuv.

I would highly doubt that , they are in different segments and the Sorento has done so well for them...............but I think Hyundai is replacing the Santa Fe Sport with the Pallisade

Maybe an S or LX model but not close to an SXP. And remember they are selling the SXP for thousands over MSRP in many locations.

Who cares about stealer upcharging the MSRP of both topline trims is very similar

It does matter a lot in this case. Dealers have so many Sorentos on the lot that you can get them way cheaper than a telluride...so, yes the MSRP's may be close, but when it comes to reality and purchasing one, then that's where the wake up call comes.

My position is price strategy from Kia , not market conditions ,
