• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... LED taillights on higher trims, price and direct plug and play on LX?

I have the diagrams shared from another member. Send me email and I will get them to you. Please keep us posted as this is something I am wanting to do so bad to our S
OKay, still trying to figure out how to send a note on this forum ;)

Hello bunch !
Go my two tail lights assembly from Ebay ... they do hyperflash as hell just by pressing the brakes. Error codes in the dash as well.
Same as when I replaced bulbs in halogen tail lamps.
So ... will ask for help for where I should put resistors (or any other piece of equipment), and how to move turn signal up in the tail lights.
Will post back when I got an answer !
PS Just stumbled upon a thread called "Comprehensive LED Upgrade Guide with Photos" - but that's okay, I definitely wanted those Led tail lights.

I was thinking the same. SX in Canada doesn't come with LED taillights. I'll patiently wait until there is some after market or OEM LED ones available for sale.
You can get these on eBay. Just did, replaced tail lights of my Canadian SX model. But I've got hyperflashing issues. Will ask local body shop to fix it, and move the turn signal from bumper to tail light. But the effect of those Led tail lights has a lot more luxurious look (to me). Imagine, I've got 2017 EX sportage, which has Led Tail lights, and my 21 SX does not. Fixed !

Please let me know what you ultimately have the body shop do with wiring and everything. I want to do this so bad

They told me they'll put some resistors in there, or some kind of module elsewhere. Will ask about the details once done, and get back to you !
There's a lot of videos on YouTube on how to fix this, but I'm not trusting myself at this point ;)

Are you going to add these reflectors for bumper, if they figure how to get signal to work in tail lights?

I doubt it ... pretty sure the actual ones are reflectors, even if they flash.
I’ll ask body shop. It’s expensive enough so far, but I must admit they look better 🙂

Ya just reflectors was jw. Ya led looks more premium

I guess if it were me I would just have them act as repeaters? But yes all trims have some form of a reflector in that area just varying lengths dependent on what lighting (if any) is there. Maybe switch out the bulb to LED so it flashes uniformly tho. As mentioned earlier I swapped my reflectors on my SX to the the turn signal assemblies from a salvaged S trim. They act as additional taillights and rear fogs. Cant hurt to be extra safe! @PatMatt I’m surprised to read that the OEM LED assembly still has hyper flash, you’d think they would just integrate the resistance in the unit

Yeah, that’s so sad they hyperflash, only when I press on the brakes. But it takes a while when I’m into my ride to get the error message, like at least 5 mins.
Do you happen to still have your reflectors ? I’d be interested 😀

Unfortunately I don’t. I listed them on eBay shortly after completing the project last Spring and they surprisingly sold very quickly, I wasn’t expecting to get anything from them haha

FYI, All.
Got convinced to replace the bumper turn signal units with "simple" reflectors, bought on eBay. They're on their way.
Ordered resistance, as well as tools to fix the hyperflash issue with the LED tail lights myself. Will post what I find here (which cable I put the resistor on)
Next step : move the turn signal from bumper to housing.
Will have serious issues with removing (or somehow bending) the bumper, to access these reflectors (which I will replace as well)
- So ... if someone has instructions to easily remove that bumper, or get to the reflectors, I'd be more than full happy :)

Thanks! I would think if there were any type of module it would be built into the housing. I’d be interested in seeing one of the higher trims with a taillight removed if anyone on here has a pic of one!
Hello Augie1209 !
FYI I did order LED tail lights from eBay to replace existing Halogen housings I had on my Canadian SX (same tail config as your S).
I did replace them, and one thing for sure : the housings are exact-fit replacement, even the connector is the same (not exactly same pinout, though)
One issue : hyperfash when braking at night, when the LED's are lit.
You can see later in the conversation what I did and what's next.

Thanks

Just curious if you tried calling a Canadian Kia dealership first to see if they would do the led swap for you?

I did call them. First thing I did. Parts were more than 2 times the price (800$ CAD per tail light !!) - and they had no clue on what to do exactly. They talk about fuse box, not being sure, blah blah ... Would have loved to pay a bit more to get it done by them, but hey ... I'm still havin' fun, not completed yet !

I simply bought an SX Limited which fixed the LED issue ;)

...I know, this may make me sound like a jerk but I couldn't help myself, lol

I ordered that at first, but after two months wait, reverted to SX ... good call on your side !

Why you say SX-L non nappa in your description ? New model ?
