Ouch! And I kind of agree! Now that the new car honeymoon period is over with my 2020 SX, I am noticing more and more things that I don't like:
- accelerator pedal feel
- transmission lag (regardless of the mode)
- mediocre handling
- lower portion of side door extends too far - plastic has broken
- no oil life tracking (just a simple millage minder)
- poor keyless lock and unlock function
- poor placement of the garage door buttons & no backlight
I do not enjoy driving it as much as my previous Acura MDX or even my current Honda Ridgeline.
I will probably get rid of the Telluride sooner than later
You can turn the warning sound down in the options
- Center captain chairs do not recline as much as I had hoped.
- Confusing dashboard control settings. Takes some time to get used to them. Also, a little hard for me to see (too small of a font.)
- Poor illumination of headlights (S Trim). Have since upgraded to LED.
- Warning sounds (blind spot and lane departure) are too loud. If anyone is sleeping, the noise wakes them up. These sounds can be turned off in the settings, but that defeats the purpose.
some of this is somewhat common. On both my VW and Mazda I can only control radio via presets on the wheel. (But try holding down for seek and flick for presets). The up/down thing is kinda a weird UX problem introduced to mimic touch controls- the same issue exists in Mac OS touchpad controls for scrolling (though they allow you to reverse it). Using a touch interface you actually use an up motion to go down, I’m sure KIA was trying to keep the motion the same for both interfaces, but it’s counterintuitive for a switch. On my Mazda you push up to down shift and back to up shift (weird but perhaps mimicking going between 1st and 2nd on a conventional transmission?) On both my VW and Mazda you are significantly limited to what settings you can access while the car is in motion.I’m sure mine annoyances have already been mention but after having ours for a month. The UI for the steering controls/dash are just bad. No ability to go through radio channels except ones that are on preset. Up is down and down is up. Can’t connect a phone to Bluetooth while driving? I mean wtf?
No homelink for garage door opener on the EX?EX:
1. Headlights
2. Reverse Lights
3. No homelink
4. No Widescreen Android Auto
5. No dimming side mirrors
These are all nit-picks though and aside from 4 and 5 you can correct them.
No, but you can add the mirror with homelink for about $300. Looks like an easy swap.No homelink for garage door opener on the EX?
Try changing the angle of the recline...I had the same thing happen in another car.Rattle from second row captain chair or rear meaning 3rd row? I have an annoying rattle coming from the 2nd row passenger side captain chair when it's vacant. When someone is sitting there, rattle goes away
I’m a little dumbfounded on this. Would you be able to elaborate? In my experience, that hasn’t been much of an issue with one (1) exception. No heat while the car is idling or traveling at any speed less than 2000rpm. It's ridiculous.
I drive in comfort mode and turn off the auto stsrt/stop 100% of the time. I seriously hate that feature although I understand it's purpose.I’m a little dumbfounded on this. Would you be able to elaborate? In my experience, that hasn’t been much of an issue with one (1) exception.
- If idling in Drive, with auto start/stop active, it does tend to kill the AC or heat while stationary with the brake engaged or auto hold. I usually always turn the damn thing off right when I get in, stupid that it’s default active and no way to completely turn it off without a bypass module.
- While the latter of the two concerns, I’m not sure what you’re experiencing cause in my SXP AWD NF/T Telluride, I have heat at all in Park, Neutral, and any gear at any speed with the exception of the above i.e., auto start/stop. This goes for circulates heat, heated steering wheel, and all four (4) heated seats, I haven’t had a problem. If this is your issue, I’d say you have something faulty unless I’m missing something.
