In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Locking doors while car is on

I just confirmed that you can lock the car and unlock through the Kia app with car on. However, if you lock with Kia app you must unlock with Kia app. Will not unlock with fob or button on door handle. Either way pretty nice in the heat and definitely in the winter when it’s cold. Also nice if you have dogs.

The question now is will it stay on past the 10 minute idle shutoff that the remote start has.

That has nothing to do with what TontoKowalski said.

What he said was this:
1) You turn the car on via ignition (push-button start)
2) You exit the vehicle
3) You then use the UVO App to lock and unlock the doors, and you can do that even if the car is still on

This does not mean that the car will automatically turn off. Nice!

No worries, I think utmeep was just saying in addition to that will it stay on past 10 minutes. Just another thing to test :)

Exactly. No need to be an ******* @13_FST

LOL. I'm a bit surprised that you thought my comment was negative. Even if it was, there is no need to call names in these forums, especially given that both of us are contributing members.

Cheers!

It will absolutely stay past 10 minutes. No way will it shut off if you had pressed the push button start to turn the vehicle on.

Please feel free to test and report back.

To respond to your first response. My comment has everything to do what @TontoKowalskisaid. If you use the app to remote start the car will shut off after 10 minutes. Since in this case the app was used. There could be a case where it does the same.

If you believe it won’t do it then test it yourself. Can’t say something won’t or will happen if you never tried it yourself. Never hurts to ask a question now does it?

Ah, I see. I misunderstood your post then!

No worries.

I’m not sure if this has already been mentioned, but I just purchased an LX and thought the same thing. I was able to lock it while it was running with the keys in the car with the UVO app

DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO DISABLE THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKING? YOU CAN SELECT AT SPEED OR WHEN YOU PUT IT INTO GEAR, BUT YOU
CAN'T DISABLE IT. I HAD A 2016 SORENTO WHICH GAVE THE OPTION TO DISABLE THE AUTO DOOR LOCK.

Couple questions about this......

1. Can I lock the doors while the car is on?

2. Can I lock the doors while the car is on WHILE there’s people in the back seats? I tried with the app and it didn’t work...It started honking at me

Kinda super disappointed that it doesn’t have auto start on the fob....has anyone added this feature to their fob yet?
I agree with your frustrations... app works like crap.. take 3-5 mins for app to start the car... then it only runs for 10 minutes..by the time ya get dressed for the cold, gather the kids..car is off and cold again...VERY disappointed... would not reccomend to anyone in cold region

My GMC, my wife's Chevy only runs for 10 minutes, nothing new here! If you have to restart it then just do a restart. Works in Wyoming :)

You should be able to lock the doors with the key fob while outside. If you leave a fob inside the vehicle (while not running), it won't let you lock the doors via inside or outside buttons - prevents you from accidentally locking your keys in the car.
It will however let you lock the doors with a key fob from the outside (even while having another fob inside). It's smart enough to know that if you lock with a fob from outside, even though there's a fob inside, you're not locking your keys inside.

So, using your fob will work even if you have another fob in the vehicle.
I actually put my fob in my Niro, with my phone and wallet while I did some Yardwork. Put them in the back where all my tools were. Came back to the car and was locked out.All doors were locked. Phone was in the car so....big hassle. I still do not know how that happened and am looking for answers.

I also asked the same question. The guy that responded in my thread said that you can open or take the cap off on the door handle and you'll see a key hole there. You can then use your key to lock your doors.

I have not experienced this, but my first thought is that maybe it's a security thing. If it detects the key in the car with no activity for some predetermined timeframe, maybe it assumes you've left your keys in your car and left the area, so it's protecting your keys by locking the door. If that's the case, it's either assuming you have a second set, or there must be some way to open it without your keys - maybe some preprogrammed combination of button presses on the external lock button.

On my Mazda, I roll down the driver's side window, exit the car, then lock the car from the button on the driver door, then hit the Auto Up on the driver side window to close the window - while removing my arm quickly - and voila. I now have a locked car with the car running. Caveat - I have to unlock the car using the physical key. The fob doesn't work for some reason.

I don't know if this approach would work on the Telluride... still waiting on mine.
I watched a video on Youtube of the same, and I though of trying it out. I found myself locked out, the key fob wouldn't unlock the car.
Using the physical key could be a hassle, since you have the remove the door handle cover, and slide the key in.
I went to the back of the car, pressed the trunk button, got the gate open and crawled in to unlock the car from inside.

On two occasions I have left my Telluride SXP running with dog inside on a hot day without being able to lock it, left it running anyway and walked into a convenient store and upon return the car had locked itself. To make matters worse, the key FOB was no longer functional. After looking like an idiot not knowing how to get into my car, I fortunately had my phone & App with me and it was able to unlock the car.

Second trip same thing happened - I went to pick up takeout with dog in tow, doors automatically locked again while car was running but I didn't have my phone. After a momentary freakout I remembered the manual key but couldn't immediately remember how to access the keyhole. I finally got the keyhole cover off and was able to unlock the door.

Curious as to whether this is how the car is supposed to operate because it seems ridiculous to me that the FOB no longer works after it locks itself. I can imagine that there may be many people who do not know how to use the manual key and could be very expensive to get it unlocked and even dangerous with passengers/pets locked in the car on a hot day and for whatever reason it stops running.

Well lesson learned. I just need to figure how to properly reset the keyhole cover that keeps falling off now.

Unfortunately this is a common problem with many modern push to start cars these days. I don’t understand why the fob is designed not to unlock when the engine is running either.

At one point I was considering modding that plastic cover over the key hole to make it easier to access with the physical key, but when I tried to contact dealers to buy a spare cover, I was not successful.

If you have a 2020 US Telluride, the CarLink remote start app for the Accessorides kit is super responsive. I’ve just been using that to lock/unlock the car while running with my family waiting inside, while I go to grab takeout. Takes 2 seconds for the command to work through the app.
