• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Max avoidance speed of 54 mph


Anyone know what part of the Telluride's avoidance system stops working at 54 mph? Sounds like adaptive cruise control still works fine?
None of it… I don’t think this is referring to what you think it is.

This is their description:

The avoidance maneuver is a "path-following test" in which the driver pilots the car down a lane marked off by traffic cones with a quick left-right-left sequence. That simulates swerving to avoid an obstacle in the road, then returning to the original lane to avoid oncoming traffic. The car threads through the course, without throttle or brakes, at ever-higher speeds until it can't get through without hitting any cones.

When testing on-limit handling, drivers push the car to and beyond its limits of cornering capabilities to simulate entering a corner too quickly. Test engineers evaluate how controllable, secure, and forgiving—or not—the car is.
 
The Telluride did well when we suddenly came upon something that must've fallen off another vehicle. My car was packed for a road trip traveling at 70+mph on the Katy Freeway... my husband scrubbed a little bit of speed prior to swerving (but you typically don't want to brake too much)... the left tires dipped into rough shoulder before returning to regular pavement. The obstacle we faced was certainly not as severe as the slalom in the CR avoidance maneuver test. Still, I was pleased with how it remained composed in that situation.
