If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I walked into my local GA KIA dealer yesterday looking for a Telluride SX and was told there were none available and hard to come by however there was a SX Nightfall edition coming in in two weeks in Black Copper with Dune Brown leather. I researched the heck out of the Telluride before I went in and after thinking about it for 30 seconds signed on the dotted line. I’ve never even sat in one and of course the dealer didn’t have one for me to take a look inside so I’m hoping you guys tell me I made the right decision. Paid well over MSRP but I told that’s the norm if you want one. ......Can’t wait!!!

Congrats on the new purchase! That'll be a sweet ride when you get it. Mind if I ask what dealer?

Is never a good decision to pay over MSRP but hey like my old man used to say do whatever makes you happy! congrats on your new ride.

Sounds like a beautiful combination! We wanted that interior but the dealer said they don't bring them in unless specifically requested cause they don't sell here. Weird as we think its gorgeous! We put a deposit down on a Nightfall last night too over MSRP.

If I had to guess I would say it was Rick Case in Gwinnett. They have one coming in with that same combo. I called to ask about it and they said they were putting a $7,500 mark up on it... they also told me local dealerships were marking up as well. Lies. Ed Voyles in Chamblee has said they always sell at MSRP.

ouch. That’s a hefty markup.

Metro Atlanta dealers are all SCUM. I don't feel sorry for those who paid OVER MSRP by a significant amount. Those actions really just make it harder for everyone else trying to get a decent "deal." It also let's dealers know that they CAN KEEP ON DOING IT because people will pay it. Unless people change their behavior and show some restraint this Telluride availability disaster will continue.

I’d have a problem with the markup also. But more and more dealers are doing it.

I don’t want to take away from the buyer’s happiness. Congratulations, @GordonTelluride !

I'm just saying dealers are getting away with it because people are enabling them. My two cents.

If no one paid markup, there wouldn't be markup.
Spot on. KIA is not a brand that enjoys the same affluent only clientele like luxury brand companies- their customers don’t need to blink at markups. But as long as people keep coughing up extra cash, an individual dealer willing to push the profit envelope won’t blink. It’s temporary, it just depends on how many years. But those paying over MSRP are eliminating on of the Surprising and unique “values” this SUV brings, which is affordability. Patience will win out in the end, but it’s long journey.

They made it look enough like a range rover that it's gotten the attention of members of the "more money than brains club" that are suddenly coming to the realization that other car companies make cars with the same features as their BMW or Rover or Audi and for way less money. Kia can't compete with their performance but these things just sit in traffic on the commute anyway...

That's the way it goes though. It makes me laugh when I see people paying huge money for the badge on their grille. You can equip a Pilot just about the same as an MDX for 10k less. SLT Yukon or Sierra can be equipped nearly identically to a Denali for thousands less but people need that Denali badge and wheels. Heck, they even make a Denali Terrain and those are over 40k for a compact suv. I don't think they have any more options than a $35k top of the line CRV or Rav4.

All the buyers of the Telluride constitute the “market”. Despite y’all’s pleas that “no one should pay over MSRP” or that people that do are idiots, when demand outweighs supply, the market will command higher prices, because people will be willing to pay more to get what they want. Now maybe this isn’t YOU guys, but you only represent a small portion of the market. The other thing is MSRP is a SUGGESTED price, and dealers can charge whatever the market will bear...and this is not price gouging!! Their penalty for charging too much is not making the sale...as it should be in a free market economy.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your brand new Telluride! What will the Telluride be replacing for you? I'm glad you found us.

I am most concerned about depreciation/resale value. While we certainly intend to keep it a long time, nobody knows what the future holds (2020 proved this) and depreciation/resale is mostly a function of MSRP.

I'm no finance wiz but I gotta think that paying above average market price for a depreciating asset that is at the peak of its value when purchased doesn't exactly sound like a "smart" decision. Buy what you want and pay what you want for it but don't try to tell me you made a good financial decision by doing so. In 2025, a 2020 Telluride that someone paid 10k over sticker for isn't going to be worth any more than one that was sold for sticker. It probably won't even be worth any more than a comparably equipped competitor's vehicle.

To each their own though.

It’s very simple folks. Supply and demand. If you don’t understand that concept you should probably be looking at another car.
A little legwork looking out of state and fortunately you can still buy at MSRP.
