If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Murray kia order to delivery time

hey everyone,

I'm interested in ordering with Murray Kia. I just got off the phone with a rep and they indicated that i'll need to place a non-refundable $500 deposit. Is that the norm with everyone that ordered with Murray?

I'm reading that other places are only requiring a refundable $500 deposit.
I ordered about a month ago and was told the same thing. When I prodded, it sounded like there was some wiggle room on that. It didn't matter much to me because I didn't place orders anywhere else and there's not much that would cause me to back out.

I do think this may be something that they've changed recently because IIRC others have mentioned refundable deposits at Murray KIA.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll see if there is some wiggle room, just feel more comfortable with refundable.

@LhTelly how was your experience with ordering a telluride at Murray?

Exact same process for me. I think the refundable vs. non-refundable deposit depends on the dealer (just a guess). I didn't really mind though because there is nothing really that is going to make me back out of getting the vehicle.

Looks like you and I ordered within a day of each other. Wonder if we will get our vehicles at the same time. Should be interesting...

Not bad, but not perfect. I wanted to order with Roger and he wasn't available the day I called. The woman who answered the call (didn't catch name but I don't think she was in sales), said she could go ahead and fill out the order form, take the deposit, and Roger would place the order the next day when he was in.

I called a few days later just to verify the order was placed and to ask Roger a few questions. I got his voicemail and he responded later via text saying he was swamped and wasn't able to take calls (don't doubt that that's true), but could respond quickly via text/email. He answered my questions and then I began the painful wait.

So overall, good not great. Wasn't very personal, but I didn't have a ton of questions. I'm sure if I was adamant that I could talk to him over the phone. And I'm sure I will get that opportunity later once the order is actually picked up or there is an ETA.

I don't think mine was actually placed until the 16th, so probably same day as you. Whoever gets theirs first owes the other a beer for their suffering!

Yes. At Murray, they say it's non-refundable. Just how they do it I guess

I paid $500, didn't check if it was refundable or not. I guess it shows them whether you're serious about the order.

When I ordered I filled out a photocopied "order sheet" with my selections. Nowhere did I sign anything stating whether the deposit was refundable or not. My thoughts were that, should it come to it, I would get my deposit back. Based on how things are going though, even if I got a vehicle elsewhere, I would have still taken delivery on the other vehicle from Murray and sold it for a profit.

It is a 500 dollar non refundable deposit. They told me from the get go that it was non refundable when I asked what the process was to order a telluride.

Has anyone that ordered after 8/18 been picked up from Murray kia? Last know pick up was 8/18. Maybe someone who ordered in late August can chime in.

Yes that is correct, he also told me at the time it was non refundable. But I placed my order anyway.

Yes, that's the only downside to Murray (non-refundable deposit). It is refundable at most other dealers because they can easily sell the car if you were to back out, though some dealers want $1,000 deposit. I went with Murray because they were physically closer, had a greater volume than others selling at MRSP and also could not envision needing to cancel.

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum.

Just placed deposit today for S Trim (everlasting silver) FWD with tow hitch with Murray Kia. I live in FL, and there was no way I was paying the 4-6K markup over MSRP I was seeing. I was told by Roger that I was number 75 on the wait list.

Failcat shows Kia picked up 20 Tellurides from Murray in November and 11 so far in December. If that average holds, I would assume my order would be picked up in March considering my number on the wait list, but could be wrong. My concern is that only 2 orders with my specs have been picked up since mid-October.

Does the trim play a big role on whether the order is picked up, or is the sport on the wait list more relevant?

I think your assumption of March, to be picked up, is pretty accurate. I was 71st in line when I ordered on 9/30. I assume my telluride will be picked up in January. Hopefully delivery in March.
I'm not sure how you will be affected with getting the S trim. I would almost guess that you could get it faster bc I've heard on this forum that dealer allocations are based on trim and there shouldn't be too many S trims in line. I would like to hear the answer to this as well as far as spot in line vs. Trim selected.
Also, through this thread we have determined that Murray Kia is having orders picked up from mid to late August. So you can kind of follow as it gets closer to your date.

I inquired this morning about where I stand in line, just to see. I ordered on 11/17/21, and there are 60 orders ahead of mine at the moment. So I'm thinking mine will get picked up in March or April and then hopefully delivered in May or June.

Trim plays a huge part in how quickly your vehicle gets picked up. Murray only gets so many SX AWD allocations per month; so any other SX AWDs have to continue waiting. However, if only a few S FWD are ordered (if any at all), you will be picked up much quicker.

The reason you're not seeing a lot of them is that few people order them, almost everyone here gets an SX, a few S are definitely bought but not too many FWD. You should get yours quicker than most.

Final thing, most people are freaking out that there are 70+ folks in line in front of them at Murray and assume the list is growing. Since this is a moving list, every month they clear ~20-25 and it sounds like the moving average is still running at about 3 month lead time to KFOS pick-up. That's a 5-6 month turnaround on an MSRP order, not bad at all. Roger is good at managing expectations and weeding out folks who are going to start pounding on the door when their estimated dates are approaching.

I ordered Sep 8th and my order still hasn't been picked up yet. I spoke to my sales person today and he reassured me that as soon as it is picked up I will get a call. Then things go very quickly after you get the VIN number. We have baby #3 due any day now so we would love to get the call that our car is ready. Fingers crossed!
Just Curious, has your order been picked up yet? Someone who ordered 8/18 from Murray was recently picked up, so you must be close.

Looking at the people still waiting on this thread, I should be next. Don’t you guys jump in front of me now lol

Does anyone know when KFOS picks up your order you get an order confirmation of what you ordered? I'm just wondering because of friend of mine ordered from another dealer last year and they made a mistake on his Telluride paint. The dealer ended up giving him a free trunk mat.
