• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I’m having trouble figuring out the NAV system. I live in WI very close to MN and it doesn’t seem to find address locations I’m looking for. How do you get it to start a search in a neighboring state immediately , instead of the state your in? I’ve seen the spot where I can input a State but haven’t been able to get right to it again. Yeah, I’m an old guy and this Navigation system doesn’t seem to be very intuitive.

I’ve tried typing in complete addresses including state and zip codes and it still doesn’t find my old house in Nevada Or by typing in the name of a business including the city, it still doesn’t locate it.

I push the map button, then search an address and it doesn’t seem to find what I’m looking for. I seem To be able to find what I’m looking for with my F150 but not with the T.

Ive watched what videos I can find on YouTube regarding KIA navigation but it hasn’t helped me locate destinations , I’m not getting it!

I don't know when this happened (hadn't travelled anywhere that I needed guidance) when UVO expired or new software installed, guidance works on "Previous Locations" but cannot input any new locations. So, my navigation system is pretty useless. If it's the lack of paying for UVO that has rendered my system null I'm pretty ticked off.

look at this thread

Thanks, as soon as I signed up for the UVO link everything I couldn’t find was located fairly quickly

So, Sportshot2, when you paid up for UVO all is well? Then it is required to pay for navigation!

Navigation is free even after the subscription ends. But unfortunately you might have to take the extra step to update software version on the head unit if unchecking the UVO box in the voice recognition settings doesn’t work.

I suppose this is something the dealer will do? Someone suggested that I download a 32 gig file and do it myself. That ain't likely to happen!

A dealer typically won't upgrade your software unless there is a technical bulletin. When the update is available, you can purchase a USB stick from Mapnsoft. It looks like they pulled the August version and will be releasing a November version.

A couple of months ago my wife took our's in for a windshield replacement and while there they said that they upgraded the software. Would this not be what we're discussing. If a new version of software is released, why would the dealer not install it?

It is confusing, but bottom line is that some dealers will install some software updates of components if there is a Technical Service Bulletin. But, usually not map updates. If you look in the Telluride head unit, there are about 4 or 5 different software versions listed - one for each compononent. For example, my dealer updated my head unit software to a version provided by Kia because there was a TSB to update it. But, that did not include the other components, so no updated functionality.

Kia releases software updates including map updates for some vehicles at update.kia.com - self service or purchase a USB from Mapnsoft and do it yourself.

The only way you can verify the software versions that you have installed is to look in your settings and compare against latest update.

If you just want to accept what the dealer installs, then do that. But, it may not be the latest and greatest.

Here's what I'm gonna do.....I'm gonna play dumb and take it in to a dealer as say "Can you show me how to use this Nav system? I'm pretty dumb and can't get it to accept a new destination." When he/she can't get it to work, I'll simply ask, "Isn't that under warranty?"

Spending hours at a dealer vs doing it yourself with the help of guides on this website in 20 minutes. Have fun with that...
