Just bought my wife a new SUV, she's been driving Tahoe's for the last 20 odd years but liked a Kia this time. Pretty sweet ride so far, although it's going to take me a while to go through all the features on it and explain them to her, she's reasonably good with tech but this thing has a crazy number of options and settings.
She wanted some steps to help her mom get in, so I ordered a set of Black Horse Premium Running Boards. Install looks pretty straight forward except for the part about having to cut up the bottom trim
, not looking forward to that.
This is my first unibody vehicle, everything else has had nice accessible frames and diff/crossbar lift points. I've been looking through the forums trying to figure out how to get this puppy up on four jack stands using my floor jack. There doesn't seem to be a consensus on that, a lot of posts say to go one wheel at a time (slow, meh), but even then, if the jack is using the official jack point, where do you put the jack stand? Other posts say "Oh, I just lift by the muffler, so far nothing's broken" (well, not really the muffler, but random pieces of the undercarriage that aren't official jackpoints and may or may not bend things) <sigh>.
I've got a crossbeam adapter for my floor jack (American Forge & Foundry) so I'm hoping between the regular jack pad and it I can find a safe way to lift the front and then the rear to slip jack stands in on the side.
