I joined this forum the other day and jumped right in to sharing my troubles in getting the dealership to offer me the military discount that I should have qualified for, and skipped the introductions. FYI, the discount saga is ongoing as I wait to hear back from the general manager.
Some quick background info on what led my wife and I to the Telluride: She had been wanting a new car for awhile (last 2 vehicles were both Mazda CX-9s which were great for us but we were both ready for a change). She looked at downsizing to a CX-5 or a Subaru Forester but ultimately wasn't ready to give up the third row. She drove the Lexus RX-350L but just didn't like it for some reason, especially at the $60K or so price tag, and looked at several other makes/models but nothing really jumped out at her.
She was about ready to settle for yet another CX-9 when I suggested we take a look at the Telluride. I really knew little about them, outside of the awards and positive reviews and a co-worker raving about them. There was only one SX within an hour of us in Southwest Ohio so we drove down to check it out and test drive. It was white/Nightfall edition. She really liked it but her last car was white which was not her preference (deal was just too good on it back then and white was the only option left), so another white vehicle was not ideal.
During the test drive she talked about her old cars and how she always loved the color of her purple Chevy Cavalier from the mid-90s, and how she would really like the Telluride in a similar color. I did not even know what all colors they came in to be honest. Well, as we are pulling back into the dealership, we noticed two big trailers of new Kias (several of them Tellurides) that had just been delivered while we were on the test drive. Lucky enough for her, one of the two sangria Tellurides on the trailer was an SX which is the trim level she wanted. It really seemed like it was meant to be for her.
Long story short, we were able to negotiate a deal and she got the car she wanted. I see several stories on here of people ordering and then waiting months and months, and she was lucky enough to not even know anything about them earlier that morning and then found the exact one she wanted and drove it off the lot the same day.
Since we did not know all that much about them prior to purchase, it has been fun for us to review the features and functions guide and experiment with all the various options. I look forward to learning more from everyone on this forum and maybe being able to assist other members at some point.
Thanks for reading!
