Yeah idk how capable these "certified" KIA techs are given they can't fix a non mechanical thingThanks. I took it to the dealership and they "fixed" it but the rattle has come back. I will take it back next week but I am not very hopeful that they can fix it :-(
We have a 2020 SX with 9,000 miles. Last week started getting noises when we stop and put it in reverse. Sounds like a whining noise coming from the front of car. Calling dealer tomorrowAnyone having squeaks or rattles when driving?
Hello all, I can confirm this. The noise from the second row was driving me nuts. I discovered the same issue on our SXP with the Napa leather. Rather than hoping that the seats would always remain in the reclined position, I took a foot long 2x4, wedged it against the backrest foam so it would sit on the top all 4 of the black metal u-shaped child-seat hooks on the outer edges of the seat, and smacked it hard with a hammer several times to drive those things down 2-3 millimeters. It did the trick! No more squeaky-rattle noises coming from the second row regardless of the recline position of the seats. Aaaaahhhhhh!Helping fellow Telluride owners captain chair noises are created from the leather squeaking against the child seat hook. Just recline it a bit where the seat is not rubbing against it and that addresses the noise.
I’d be worried about the integrity of that LATCH hook now that the metal has been bent. If you attach a carseat there, now you will never know if it will be as safe as from the manufacture.Hello all, I can confirm this. The noise from the second row was driving me nuts. Were they able to share any more precise details beyond re-gluing a plastic ring? Did they document the repair for the factory service rep? I suppose I would like to fix this same problem, but I am reluctant to bring the vehicle to a service center without specific guidance (and risk several additional frustrating visits). It seems odd that the both your original and replacement headliners had this same defect.UPDATE:FIXED! After going in for the 5th time on this problem, and having the shop foreman come out with me to the Telluride so that he could actually observe the rattle and not just immediately try to replace the headliner or rear HVAC controls (which they have already done to no avail), they acknowledged the problem and I asked them to please dig a little deeper to find the issue. They discovered a plastic "ring" inside the headliner that had come unglued, and they glued that back. Evidently that was causing the rattling that would not stop. Its not a piece they can replace. Additionally, they put some kind of padding or tape or something else up against the roof to prevent any further rattles from developing. Such a simple an inexpensive fix that makes the car SO MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE. Its such a nice thing to have my new car feel like a new car again. Hope this helps!!!!
Unfortunately no. I just re read all the shop notes, and they just reference bending metal clips into place so the assembly properly engages the roof. If your shop wants to talk to my shop, it’s Southwest Kia of Austin (the north Austin location). I worked with a few service advisors over there and I’m sure they will recall the telluride roof rattle saga. Were they able to share any more precise details beyond re-gluing a plastic ring? Thanks. Maybe my shop would be willing to make the phone call.Unfortunately no. I do think it is worth mentioning that the rattle, at least in my case, seems to stop in warm weather. This suggests that thermal expansion of the roof plays a role.Thanks. Maybe my shop would be willing to make the phone call.
Did they have to remove the head liner? They said it was loose insulation that they clipped back in place. The rattle returned after 5 weeks. Need to take it back yet again.
We too have the rattle from the dome light area, it's been there since we got it. It's intermittent, haven't noticed a pattern based on temp, etc.Did they have to remove the head liner?
The dealer has fixed mine and so far it looks good. They said it was loose insulation that they clipped back in place. The rattle returned after 5 weeks. Need to take it back yet again.
Unfortunately the issue is back again. Noticed it again after opening rear sunroof. The dealer has fixed mine and so far it looks good.

Thank you so much for the process and the pics. Love simple solutions. Wedge of wood and small hammer blows to remove the offending contact: nothing simpler than that.I took a foot long 2x4, wedged it against the backrest foam so it would sit on the top all 4 of the black metal u-shaped child-seat hooks on the outer edges of the seat, and smacked it hard with a hammer several times to drive those things down 2-3 millimeters.
