• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Noises

Thanks. I took it to the dealership and they "fixed" it but the rattle has come back. I will take it back next week but I am not very hopeful that they can fix it :-(

Yeah idk how capable these "certified" KIA techs are given they can't fix a non mechanical thing

Anyone having squeaks or rattles when driving?
We have a 2020 SX with 9,000 miles. Last week started getting noises when we stop and put it in reverse. Sounds like a whining noise coming from the front of car. Calling dealer tomorrow

I have taken my 2020 Telluride SX in 4 times to have the rear HVAC cluster/headliner rattle fixed. They have replaced the unit, put foam around it, replaced the headliner, all to no avail. I have shimmed it myself, pushed all around it, and the rattle is incessant. Its so cheaply made. Its frustrating because it is directly behind the front driver/passenger's head. The dealership doesn't seem to be able to fix it. I am about ready to tear it out and just coat everything plastic in double-sided foam tape. Has anybody else actually gotten this sound to stop????

I am with you. Have taken mine to the dealership twice and the rattle goes on. Not sure what to do at this point - as you say the thing is so cheaply made. I should have gotten the Tesla Model Y.
Let me know if you end up tearing everything out and if that works...

This isn’t a widespread problem although I feel for those that have this problem

UPDATE:FIXED! After going in for the 5th time on this problem, and having the shop foreman come out with me to the Telluride so that he could actually observe the rattle and not just immediately try to replace the headliner or rear HVAC controls (which they have already done to no avail), they acknowledged the problem and I asked them to please dig a little deeper to find the issue. They discovered a plastic "ring" inside the headliner that had come unglued, and they glued that back. Evidently that was causing the rattling that would not stop. Its not a piece they can replace. Additionally, they put some kind of padding or tape or something else up against the roof to prevent any further rattles from developing. Such a simple an inexpensive fix that makes the car SO MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE. Its such a nice thing to have my new car feel like a new car again. Hope this helps!!!!

After one year ownership I just found a noise that is related with rear wiper, only in Lo setting, every time right before the wiper moves I can hear a click sound from steering column, it sounds like the something is regulating the speed of that wiper. Has anybody heard this?

Helping fellow Telluride owners captain chair noises are created from the leather squeaking against the child seat hook. Just recline it a bit where the seat is not rubbing against it and that addresses the noise.
Hello all, I can confirm this. The noise from the second row was driving me nuts. I discovered the same issue on our SXP with the Napa leather. Rather than hoping that the seats would always remain in the reclined position, I took a foot long 2x4, wedged it against the backrest foam so it would sit on the top all 4 of the black metal u-shaped child-seat hooks on the outer edges of the seat, and smacked it hard with a hammer several times to drive those things down 2-3 millimeters. It did the trick! No more squeaky-rattle noises coming from the second row regardless of the recline position of the seats. Aaaaahhhhhh!

I’d be worried about the integrity of that LATCH hook now that the metal has been bent. If you attach a carseat there, now you will never know if it will be as safe as from the manufacture.

Maybe a safer alternative could be to wrap a fabric bandaid/tape around the LATCH hook to prevent the leather from rubbing against a smooth surface. Fabric against leather should make no squeaks. Also can remove in the future when you need to use the LATCH hook.

Were they able to share any more precise details beyond re-gluing a plastic ring? Did they document the repair for the factory service rep? I suppose I would like to fix this same problem, but I am reluctant to bring the vehicle to a service center without specific guidance (and risk several additional frustrating visits). It seems odd that the both your original and replacement headliners had this same defect.

Unfortunately no. I just re read all the shop notes, and they just reference bending metal clips into place so the assembly properly engages the roof. If your shop wants to talk to my shop, it’s Southwest Kia of Austin (the north Austin location). I worked with a few service advisors over there and I’m sure they will recall the telluride roof rattle saga.

Thanks. Maybe my shop would be willing to make the phone call.

I do think it is worth mentioning that the rattle, at least in my case, seems to stop in warm weather. This suggests that thermal expansion of the roof plays a role.

They said it was loose insulation that they clipped back in place. The rattle returned after 5 weeks. Need to take it back yet again.
Did they have to remove the head liner?

We too have the rattle from the dome light area, it's been there since we got it. It's intermittent, haven't noticed a pattern based on temp, etc.

If it persists I'll ask about fixing it, and will bring up the "ring" fix.

The dealer has fixed mine and so far it looks good.

Thank you so much for the process and the pics. Love simple solutions. Wedge of wood and small hammer blows to remove the offending contact: nothing simpler than that. 👍🏾.
Funny thing is I had my car on ramps and was creeping under it trying to find what I thought was a loose or rusty heat shield. Could find nothing wrong and started searching for the cause and found this solution while laying under the truck. Thanks all.
