So I talked to @StephenCantrelle about the latest car to "Jump in front" of the older orders. It seems KIA has made a change in the last month that is impacting sold orders in KFOS. I will try to explain it the best I can.

Most of us were in KDealer at one time or another and the dealerships were using KDealer as a place in line waiting for a build slot to open up based on store allocations in KFOS. So it was first in first out of KDealer into KFOS and then KFOS was first in and first out. Then about a month ago - KIA shifted production to help build dealer inventory and started filling sold orders directly out of KDealer as well as KFOS at the same time. So if you were waiting in line for KFOS for a Black Copper SXP like the one that dropped for Stephen's store today and the plant had an available car that matched your order in KDealer - they filled it and it jumped ahead of those like us sitting in KFOS. That is how most of the NFP's were being filled and jumping ahead - combined with the obvious prioritization of NF production.

It appears this move is to try and get dealers to move more to an inventory based sales model rather than a custom ordered based sales model which they have been doing for the last year and a half on all these Tellurides. So one of the things most of us have in common is that we were caught up in last old batch of orders waiting for an allocation pre-COVID. I'm sure there are other nuances involved that come into play - but the SXP that dropped today at my store was due to the change in order processing directly out of KDealer and not just through KFOS as it was done for most of this year.

Here is a theory/follow up question. Since they changed this ordering system so to speak do we need to get re-entered into Kdealer and perhaps thats why the July orders are being skipped?

Maybe orders aren't getting picked out of KFOS and Kdealer? Just Kdealer.

So now an update. Sorry in advance for the long post. First order and down payment= mid February 2020. Call from dealer telling me my order was cancelled and I would have to reorder once orders opened up = mid May (left on my answering machine). My call back to the general manager to tell them that wasn't going to happen and him promising me I was first on the list when orders opened up = minutes after the cancellation call. My follow up calls to the dealer, were no more than once a month until I was assured that my order was reentered and accepted in mid July but with GWP instead of SWP. Up to today, total number of Telluride SX AWD P/T Dune Brown GWP non NE produced to date= 0. Projected delivery date unknown. Total calls from my dealer with updates, except for the cancellation call =0. As stated in an earlier post in this thread I have now had some work done on my 2003 very low mileage F150 King Ranch Super Crew and will be putting on new tires and a little work on the 4WD system. In all I will have probably about $2K getting my old reliable road/tow worthy again. I'll probably add a back up camera but it is a top of the line model with virtually every option with the exception of some of the modern safety items but I can go a while longer without a new car. Not cancelling my order yet, going to wait it out and just see how long it will actually take. I am done worrying about it though and following along with this forum especially this thread. I have a plan when/if the order ever arrives. It is consistent with my previous posts that tells them where they can put their golden goose. Someone will probably get the opportunity to jump in and buy the one I ordered, but I bet it will no longer be at MSRP as mine was promised. For those of you who have been waiting like me and being screwed over by KIA you have my sympathy and hope that everything works out for you. It was fun until it wasn't.

Not yet. Tons of Gravity Gray coming in - but with the issues with the VIN lookup site - I am not sure it is done. I keep checking before I update my charts and the number is going up very slowly. My dealer did get a Gravity Gray NFP matching my build exactly today though. Feeling hopeful.

Post of the day! So far - the only vehicle my dealer got out of today's failcat run was the NFP.

Maybe next week....

Yeah - all the GG had me hopeful. The sad thing is my wife is having health issues - and this won't arrive before she has major surgery in a few weeks. I so wanted this to show up before her surgery so she could drive it some before being out of commission for a couple of months. That has been part of my frustration. Not looking for sympathy - she is going to be ok...but she won't even be able to fly up to get the car from Stephen and be in the pictures he posts. I know it is silly - but we kinda looked forward to a trip to Dallas to get the car.

Yeah - been part of my frustration in this whole fiasco. Of course that isn't KIA's fault - but you know how it is...tell your wife "Hey we found the perfect car to replace the one you have faithfully driven over the last ten years...." And now she doesn't even want to hear the ETA updates. She thinks it will be December - lol.
