    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Noticeable asymmetry on hood?

I just noticed today how asymmetrical my hood looks like. On the driver side, at the joint end close to the windshield the sides almost touch, on the passenger side the gap between the hood and the car body stays the same throughout the opening.

Do you guys have this sort of thing on yours too? When I picked it up I tried to look for defects in the paint, the leather, dashboard/headliner etc but didn't look for this sort of thing.

take it to your dealer, you have a 1 year adjustment warranty.
assembled at the factory with crooked hands.

@ColinZealKnows:

You're talking about gap width between the body panels, right?

My hood looks perfect from the front but perhaps on the Driver's side it tapers in similarly to yours.

@Kwim, you might like this:

I used precise instruments from work to measure the tightest part of the gap where it tapers in to where the hood meets the front driver quarter-panel.

It's technically half a millimeter less than the tightest part of the panel gap on the other side.

Personally, I can live with it and I don't want any more hands touching my Telly unnecessarily that aren't mine.

If it totally bugs you, makes you OCD about it, and what @Kwim said is correct, then take it in for a free adjustment before that 1-year expiration is up and see what they can do.

For me it's not worth it to leave my car with anyone else for something so superficially cosmetic and inconsequential.

Y'all can't pick that half-millimeter difference from any of my photos, and when covered in snow, I really don't care.

If the gap difference impeded the function of channeling rain or some other thing that's a functional issue, I'd take it in, but for me, that small of a difference and trying to be less of an unpleasant control-freak OCD type like my father and sister, I'm going to leave it just to re-wire my thinking.

I'm more worried about the crack in my windshield (more towards the passenger side and not directly in my eye-line) growing half a millimeter every week!

Should be covered, right?

Sadly, I didn't have a wonderful dash cam installed to capture and share with y'all the wonderful driving by a SF Bay Area Subaru Outback person responsible for that.

I thought the windshield issues were resolved in the ‘21 models...

@DarkMossJustin ,
buy liquid glass and remove the crack.
😄
I was going to put a dab of Polysporin and one of my niece and nephew's bright and colorful children's Band-Aids on it.

"All better now, Telly?"

"Shhhh... now now... it'll be okay" ;)

Mine has the same "shot lines" . Kia can do a good job camouflaging a $50k car to look like an $80k but there are some issues. Along with the variance in panel gaps, I have noticed some plastic trim not fitting the best around the headlights. I can live with it. I think if you took it to the dealer, they would laugh 🤭

You could also leave the hood as is and pull the top of the fender out a smidge. You’d be surprised how “malleable” the sheet metal is without loosening the fasteners. Like someone else said, Kia did a really god job with these vehicles, but there will always be variances in stamped sheet metal.

Shot lines you mean the issue that I described? Ok so you and @DarkMossJustin, that is a common occurrence I guess. I think I follow his line of thought, I'm not bothered by this that much that I need someone to mess with the car.
Maybe if I'm leaving it to the dealer install the towing accessories I'll ask them to take a look at that.
Thanks everyone.

Stuff some foam rubber, styrofoam in the driver’s side when parked at home until the gap eventually evens out?

Yeah, I mean if your Telly is already headed to the Service Department and they can hook you up with an awesome Forte Manual or a Stinger or a Soul for a week, why not?

You get to test drive another Kia and SPORT MODE (if available) :)

Yeah the wife already set her sights on the Niro... so... we would be rooting for that one I guess :D

Admittedly, one has to get pretty close to notice the tapering gap width, correct?

I'm training and tweaking my high-speed racing drones to avoid crashing into Mugu Rock and the cliffs overlooking the PCH so that I can film a "Dusk to Dawn" shot-by-shot reproduction of the Kia commercial with my amazing Telly.
That is a nice tip, thank you!

@ColinZealKnows:

Really? :)

I don't think I've even seen a Niro on the lots.

IF they even have them on the lots, Niro Fully-EV or Niro: Hybrid Gas/Electric?

Y'all have seen the "Features Film" video released last year right? (y)

The one that would be in our budget would have to be the hybrid one, lol.
This video is awesome, it's only missing the Telly!

Yeah, Telly needs to be in Features Film part 2. I think Kia came out with Telluride, the new Sorrento design, and a couple others updates since the ad agency made that entertaining film to keep us pumped on awesome Kia features during the endless lockdowns :)

If you want to feel really good about your Kia, take a casual walk around some VW and Audi dealerships and take a look at what happens when an emissions scandal A.K.A. Dieselgate does to production budgets.

Talk about cost-cutting.

LOL at the VW/Audi post-Dieselgate production.

QA/QC is basically MIA :ROFLMAO:

I can't believe what actually "passed" "inspections" and shipped to VW/Audi dealerships.

Give them a few more years to recover and improve their production levels to at least 90% of pre-Dieselgate standards, which might take a while. ;)

Mine has the same problem. It’s noticeable around the top of the headlights too. It’s like the passenger front fender is lower. Not sure if it’s worth the hassle since most dealerships aren’t great at body work.

I poked around and there is an adjustment for that area at the hinge that pushes the panel up when closed. Unfortunately it comes at the cost of making your hood and fender now become uneven with the hood sitting higher so I would not recommend it. I did raise it a half turn for a slight improvement.:sneaky:

Checked mine today. Both sides taper closer towards the windshield. Equally on both sides.
