• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Two things: All of a sudden, when I start the car and put it in drive, the rear backup camera is on for a minute or two before it shuts off. I'm out of the driveway and up the street before it stops. That's a new development. And, I was sitting in the car with the windows open and the engine off and I could not find a way to get the electronics to shut completely off. It kept beeping a battery discharge warning at me. Any suggestions for either of these issues? Thx

I think once you open your door, the electronics turn off. Also, I’ve noticed the camera will sometimes stay on until I reach a certain mph

Sounds like normal things:

1. Camera turns off at certain speed, I think 10 MPH
2. If you turn the car off and don't open the door all of the electronics stay on. As soon as you open the door they turn off

I did open and close the door. Electronics stayed on. I sat there probably 20 minutes and they never shut off. They did shut off when the windows were closed, engine off, car locked and I walked away.

it does not turn on for me. system 360 has a cameras control unit, in this unit it is possible to select this option. but this is aftermarket system. The front camera, if enabled by the button, works and turns off at a certain speed.
the electronics turns off after 10 minutes or when you open the driver's door, but this is with the windows closed. at open did not try.

Maybe it senses your weight in the seat.

Are you sure you weren't in "accessory" mode? Press the start button without your foot on the brake will turn on "accessory" mode and allow the electronics to stay on with the car not running. You also need to do this to roll the windows up or down without the car being started.

If you shift slowly from park to drive, the backup cameras will probably activate at the Reverse gear. Try shifting to Drive faster?

The electronics will only turn off when the drivers door is open:
  1. Right after you shut off the engine
  2. If your push to start button has been pressed three times from off position (accessory > ignition > accessory) when you are not starting the engine. Then open your door.

The issue seems to be the open windows. If the windows are closed and I turn the car off and sit there, the electronics all shut off. If the windows are open, engine off, the electronics stay on and the warning keeps beeping. Opening and closing the door does not change that. As far as I can tell, there isn't a way to sit in the car with the windows open and the engine off and have everything off.

That was the problem. Accessory mode wouldn't shut off. I think because the windows were open.

Just throwing this out there that used to happen to me all the time when I had a sportage. Being tall, my knee would sometimes press the shifter button and if the button is pressed while turning off the car it will stay in accessory mode. Real pain but must be for some safety reason. I think I've done that once with my telluride. Thankfully it has more room than the sportage's center console so I really don't do it as much. I would have to press the start/stop button to get out of the acc mode.

Is it a lower trim problem? Just tried leaving my window open with the car completely shut off with all doors closed while seated in the drivers seat no problem on my SXP.

Worked both ways: opening the door after shutting off engine then closing the door or opening door after triple pressing the start button with engine off then closing the door.

Windows open or closed doesn’t change anything.

I had read it somewhere that the Telluride has an alert system which reminds you of any windows left open upon exit. Could be the reason why it does not shut everything off when you kept your windows open. I think it assumes you're still seated inside.
