If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... On August 24th I placed an order with a local dealership for a fully-loaded SX Nitefall Prestige, white/white and was given a timeline of 8-12 weeks. After about 7-8 weeks I called and was told there was no delivery set. Come December I'm told it'll be delivered on the 2nd. Less than a week after that I get a call that somehow the VIN got detached from the vehicle, and they sold it to someone else. The GM of the dealership confesses that the order wasn't placed until Oct 15th (not Aug 24th like when we originally ordered), and blamed Kia for the VIN getting misplaced.

On Jan 31st the GM informs me of the VIN with a delivery date of Feb 6th. On Feb 8th I get a call that they wrecked the front end at port and we can wait until the end of the month for it to get repaired (and won't be on any CarFax), or the next ETA for our specific model would be in June 2022.

I texted him yesterday and he said it was supposed to be delivered on 2/22/22, but now it's been pushed back until the end of the month.

WTF?????

Even though you may want the vehicle but if it were me I would not except a damaged one unless and I do stress this a VERY BIG DISCOUNT...
For all the mess up on them .

Seriously.
Sounds like the original order to build time-line was accurate but they probably just sold yours out from under you and if this story about damage at the port on the 2nd one is true I wouldn't accept it without some sort of discount and extended warranty. GL with it

Walk away. There are a great number of reputable and trust worthy dealerships who will order for you at MSRP that you can find in this board. It doesn’t sound like you’re in a hurry.

Personally I wouldn’t just walk away, I would blast them via Google reviews, Twitter, and Facebook. They’ve been dishonest as far as I’m concerned and essentially taken advantage of you.

100% on board with this!! If you can wait a little longer I would go with someone else. Seems like they sold your car and the next car coming in is a made up story. Real shady. I guess it’s kinda hard to come to conclusions but if someone was being honest and telling me all these stories I would want the facts laid out or I ain’t listening or believing them period.

Which dealership was it? Or at least what part of the country are you in?

If they can't sell it as discount (I think they should) they should at least provide a free warranty, oil changes, a credit in the service department, something that helps account for the problems (especially if they have you take a damaged even though repaired one).

This right here.

If you're bound and determined to stick with this dealer for some reason, I would be demanding something out of this.

I feel like they're unlikely to discount the vehicle (could be wrong), but you may be able to finagle a bunch of other junk from them.

sounds more like they will fix the car with a new buyer being none the wiser and go their merry way

This! If the damage story is true, the dealer would love to just pass this on to a sucker, I mean different customer.

Thank you all for your help. I've actually burned the bridge at the only other dealership in town (S. Carolina) as I tried them first with a purchase but their salesmen made no effort to assist me in any way.

The GM did send me pictures upon request with the matching VIN, and the damage wasn't too extreme, but we really can't wait until June. He is taking off the cost of a few added features and removing the $5k markup entirely, so we're getting something.

Any suggestions on what to specifically ask for regarding warranty extensions?

What specifically was damaged?

What specifically was damaged?
Front corner bumper, headlamp, and 2 radiator clips is what he told me. The pictures look like the driver didn't turn hard enough and bumped another vehicle.

I would take that deal. The front bumper has very little painted surface to deal with. Everything else is trim parts that are just replaced as is the headlight. 2 clips, whatever. There isn't anything to be warranties either. These are decent mid level Suvs and not a historic Ferrari. After a few years, the front end of these cars are rock chipped anyway.

yeah id take it as well. And since the damage was done before the sale it is not part of the car‘s history. Tell them you want 2 free oil changes on top of the other stuff and go for it.

I'll see what I can do, but these days the customer's riding shotgun
