If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Order to delivery time

Probably controversial take - Kia is doing the right thing by focusing on dealer inventory.

Realize that a lot of you are waiting on orders, some of you for a long time. But in my time lurking here it feels like most of the issues are due to (a) bad dealers who don't manage orders properly, (b) good dealers who have taken on way more orders than they can fill right away, or (c) the COVID shutdown. All of those things are affecting how a small subset of customers are getting their Tellurides, but to be frank they are not part of the broad macro strategy for Kia.

I am theorizing here, but my assumptions are that Kia aspires to be a mainstream brand, has a large marketing budget behind the Telluride, and has internal metrics and milestones that they need to hit. They are not going to get there by focusing on a subset of SXP orders for an enthusiast community (let's be real - this forum is at best 1% of their target 100k volume?). They are going to get there by putting Tellurides on dealer lots - including lower trim levels that are useful for test drives and attract all types of buyers to their brand, not just those with deep pockets. Inventory on hand drives foot traffic into dealerships (remember, those guys are hurting too), can help convert sales of other models, and helps quickly eliminate the perception of a sold out and/or marked up vehicle, neither which is good for driving sales over the long run. Finally, if they are in fact planning a big marketing push (think TV ads, FB, etc) then they would want as much inventory out there as possible.

Yes its true some of that inventory is getting scooped up before it hits lots. But some of it is not (have talked to a handful of dealers who have lots of unclaimed non-SX units), and if anything it motivates them to produce even more dealer inventory so that some of the units actually make it to the lot.

It sucks for some of you, I get it, but this is just to say I can understand why Kia is doing what it is and why it will continue to do so. Hope those of you who've been stuck in limbo for a bit get your situations resolved soon.
Well said!

Didn't show the MARK UP sticker or the price on the Telluride!
Yeah he did his best to avoid showing that addendum sticker that was there.

It seems there is no let up on the demand. Why can't Kia just produce nothing but Telluride at Georgia plant and import the other models from Korea to free up space at Georgia plant?

Then they would have supply issues with their other models. KIA needs another plant in the US if they want to keep growing. What they need to do for a month or so - is stop sending vehicles to dealerships that are slapping huge markups on these Tellurides and focus all their efforts on clearing the backlog. Then - they could hopefully focus on building dealer inventory.

I just wish there was a simpler solution. I live in Hawaii and we have one Kia dealer for the whole state with 6k mark up. Take it or leave it is their attitude.

I envy all you buyers who live in mainland who have choice of dealerships with driving accessibility lol

Have a question for anyone that can help. Peak Kia North in CO is giving me a rough estimate of 6 months if I order with them but Royal Kia in Tucson is saying 3 months. Should I just go with Royal as they’re giving me an earlier delivery date? Or does it not matter as these are all just estimates?

Shipping for both are roughly the same. Peak Kia couldnt tell me how many orders were in front of me saying its nationally and wont be able to tell me. Royal told me they have 10 orders in front of me. Royal seems to know more but im worried theyre just BSing to get my sale. Any advice?

edit: Peak Kia did tell me they usually get a lot of cars in as they are a busier dealership
Maybe they have changed, but Peak Kia was doing the BS market adjustments. I was ready to buy last year and said so the price is as shown on sticker and they said yes. I started the loan process and noted it had gone up thousands. I told them no and walked away. I did not appreciate their dishonesty.

That’d be 🍭 sweet!

i heard from multiple people here that they dont mark up and the first thing I asked them was if they mark up and they assured me saying they do not have any mark up at all. I guess they came to their senses haha
