Order to delivery time

Tired of the ordering insanity. Going to reach out to corporate - publicly... to see if I they’re open to being more transparent about it... we’ll see.
I will make a statement here that Barnett KIA in MN gas REFUSED to sell one of their Tellurides to me. Management would not write a lease on a vehicle that would be picked up and purchased through them. KIA Financial told me directly that there is NO REASON that the dealer should not write this deal. Salesman was told by management that his boss told him the wouldn’t do the deal. I will call KIA corporate tomorrow and file a formal complaint! This is outrageous. The limited availability should have no bearing in this instance.

Schlegel It is a big problem when doing an out of state lease if there are any issues with the paper work or titling it will be hard on both parties to have to get things done. this is only on leasing because of taxes are done differently. How ever i did find another solution to this problem just like i did for schlegel! Sorry for the inconvenience!

I’m sorry. It’s only a “big problem” if you let it become one. Authorized KIA dealers across the country do these type of transactions all the time.

Yes and they are also charging $3-8K over MSRP as well!!

Has anyone heard of ordering a Tellurude to be built then waiting for 3-5 months only to be hit with a bump in MSRP of $3-7k? That would be insulting and ludicrous!

Are you talking about a dealer markup or actual change in MSRP? I don't think MSRP has changed. Everyone should make sure they confirm (preferably in writing) the price when they order. Also ask to make sure they don't mark up prices. My dealer doesn't, ever, as a company policy.

I meant you agree to a price on the build then they bump it when it arrives in 3-5 months

You get it in writing at time of order and if they jack up the price then you can walk away. It's only a car. Some dealers now telling people if you don't take this one now... btw Kia is supposedly raising the prices on these vehicles... Such bad behavior.

If it's in writing, you may legally have a right to purchase that vehicle at the agreed upon price when it arrives.

Even if it's not in writing, the verbal agreement should stand, but you'd have a hard time proving it.

First of all, leasing a car from an out-of-state dealer can create challenges for the dealer - especially since the sales tax structure is different in MN and GA. They don't even have the car in yet - so they may not want to write the deal? Do they plan to use KMF to handle the lease or did they want to use a local financial institution? That could be one reason. You could always just purchase the vehicle from them using your own financing or KMF rates are quite low. Sorry for your frustration. Let the dealership explain why they don't want to write a lease for out of state. They did say they came back to you with a proposal.

I took a tour or the Kia plant in Georgia on Thursday. They do not make what ever the want to. And match it up to a car ordered. The dealer sends the order in to Kia in California from there they send the orders to the GA plant. The GA plant has no idea what will be made. Kia in CA does all that. All the cars that are being made right now were all for customer. They are not building stock for dealers. I feel the hold up is with Kia CA. I had told KMMG that I was on week 12 of waiting. And they were all very surprised. The plant tour was amazing. To see the 3 models they make go from a roll of metal to a car at the end. It takes 22.5 hours from start to " the baby cars" end. 8 hours just in the paint room.
I think the car dealers are lying to you all. I was told that you have to buy what is available That ordered cars

if you have a contract with an agree price. They can’t change it. These dealers are acting like used car dealers 🤪 it seems the demand is so high they will take you for a ride if they can! So you dealers in this forum what do you have to say for yourself. I’m looking for an honest dealership any takers?

Have you read the posts throughout this forum? You mentioned the Palisade a while back and that you liked it - did you prefer a Palisade? Do you want to purchase a Telluride? We have at least 5-6+ honest dealerships on this forum that members can vouch for and many people have successfully ordered a vehicle and had it delivered the way they ordered it. I did.

We've explained the order and allocation system over and over and over again. The bottom line is that you CAN place an order with a reputable dealership and then wait it out (3-5 months).

Some (if not many) dealerships will say that they won't take orders - there are reasons for that statement that we have discussed at length. Any dealer wants to sell his allocated inventory first before taking an order - esp if the in-stock unit is commanding a higher price than the order. Bottom line is you can order - but list your state and perhaps a dealer can reach out to you from the forum. What do you want to order / buy? Call Kia of Muncie - see their posts. Barnett Kia - White Bear Lake Minnesota. Several dealerships in Texas - we could mention...

Yes, ordered from local dealer (which I had bought 6 vehicles from in the past 8 years) and 4 months it came in, they tried to bump it up 10K, I told them to keep it and went to Kia of Muncie and got it at costco pricing plus the Kia rebates.

I've leased out of state with no problems a few times. This is news to me.

i have mine in writing and also includes the ability to add to Costco discount to make it lower if they’re offering that at time of delivery.
