Order to delivery time

Went in person to my dealer on July 1st and the manager said he should have a VIN by the 3rd and car should come in next week (this week). I get a call on the 4th from a salesman stating that a car came in, but the interior is different (black vs dune) than what I ordered and if I want it. The kicker is.. my white SXP with dune brown is now estimated to arrive sometime in August or early September (ordered April 16th).
The salesman also forwarded me the letter indicating that the order "filled date" was Jul 3rd, so does that mean its now being assembled? Who knows.. but this process is definitely very frustrating.

So my allocate "filled date" was May 22nd, and it was built on June 19th. I received mine on July 5th....
 
Wondering if people can start posting when they ordered and when they received their Kia (or at least the vin).

I ordered an sx prestige with tow on March 13. Nothing yet.

Many of the threads here have gotten hare to follow woth with the side conversations, it would be helpful to just keep this to dates for people’s reference.
I was told by KIA that they are not accepting any KIA Telluride orders with the Prestige package until they clear there backlog. I ordered in May and then was told 2 weeks later that they cannot fulfill my order until they lift the freeze. This sucks!!!!!!

Hello Everyone,

First, I am very grateful for this forum and I really wanted to speak my word, but felt I was going no where with Kia Canada. We got super excited hearing about Kia Telluride and decided to go with it. Our local dealership (Milton, Ontario, Canada) said, " we have an SXL ordered for us and it should be here soon !! "

This was on April 11th, when we placed a deposit and got a Bill of Sale with no VIN . Interesting fact, when we were placing the order, the guy showed his screen , which clearly stated 1 Kia Telluride SXL - In Production - ETA August 2019. That was flag right there and we asked about it, but they reassured that they will be able to track down a car faster and have it delivered prior to that ETA.

I had to call them every other week for an ETA (Which is another flag, coz you start questioning the Customer Service and say why do I have to keep calling you for an update ?) - We called KIA Canada, who also failed to give us any update and no regards in calling us back . In June, we had some email exchange with the sales manager, who assured us that the Bill of Sale has been forwarded and Kia Canada would reserve a car for us.

Today, we find out that both the General Manager and Sales Manager are no longer with the Dealership, and we still do not have an ETA for the SXL. We did hear about the Nappa Leather Shortage but if you see Kia Canada website , they now have 4 Trims ! EX - SX - SXL and SXL w/Nappa.

So at this point we are really questioning,
Should we still wait at it has already been 3 months ?
Can Kia just give us a SXL as we dont care about the Nappa ?
Should we back out and get our money back ?
How do we get more inside info like from a Rep or even a Distribution Manager who knows what is going on ?

Sorry for the vent but had to let it out as it is really frustrating !!

He told me that what happened was he was told they are getting an SXP and no more details so he assumed it was my car, but it wasn't. I asked him what the timeline is for my car and now he said late August/early September!! That's insane! I really like the car but to wait 5 months for a Kia (yes it is reliable, blah blah, but it is still a kia) is crazy to me. I've already waited 3 months and feel borderline pot committed, but another 2 months is really pushing it.
He also told me the SXP they received (and offered to me, but sold before I could make it to the store) was supposed to come in in August but came a month early, so i'm hoping my car gets in early as well. At this point i'm not holding my breath.
My car "fill date" was Jul 3rd but the manager said he found out that it was actually filled before that date, but KIA is still having major problems with the nappa leather and the new manufacturer or new process is still being worked out.
 
I checked on mine today. The bad news...won't see the car by the end of July as I anticipated. Good news is they are hearing that the supply issues are worked out and they may be ready to start taking SXP order again very soon.

@Rondakay, did you get your Telluride yet?
The reason I did the LOL is because I answered this a few minutes ago on another thread. It is nice to have so many people keeping an eye out for me ;)

You know what would be nice. If there was a central feed from KIA - because the stories from dealers seem to vary so much. And while we are dreaming ... maybe a VIN tracker ;)
 
Sooo I was super happy when the dealer said “it’s in transit” but that was 3 weeks ago. Called today and they said ETA is 8/29. I ordered on 4/25 - Dark Moss- black interior -SX Prestige. No VIN number . Back to being depressed.

OMG Bite your tongue! Are you serious. That is a horrible story. Are you sure the dealer didn't sell your car to a higher bidder? Did it ever appear on their site or the KIA site? Did you get a VIN?

Funny thing is my husband drove by there last week and saw the exact Telluride I was getting so he stopped in and asked if it was mine and that’s when they said it’s in transit to him..... I am livid! I wonder if it was mine!!!
That same day I looked on the site and saw 2-SX on it....but then taken off.
My husband didn’t ask for the VIN that day dammit!

That same day I looked on the site and saw 2-SX on it....but then taken off.

Well it sounds to me like it may have been yours too. When they said it was 'in transit' - they should have provided the VIN (if not sooner) - for the status to change like that sounds extremely suspect. Good luck!
 
So I had ordered a white "S" model at end of May, I had the VIN# and a delivery date of between 6/21-6/28. On 6/29 they said it had been pushed back until August, but they had another one (different color and model) coming on 7/5. It is a Black "SX" and I have the VIN# for this one also. It is now 7/9 and I feel like I'm getting the same run around. I am aware of the popularity of the vehicle and the back orders, but my question is, If I have been told that it is "In Transit" how long does that take? Assuming it is leaving from Atlanta and I live in Chicago. I called the Kia Headquarters and they showed it in transit on a truck (versus a boat - so that's good). The dealer also confirmed it is in transit. My other question is how do they not have a tracking on the trucks when they leave the plant?? Hey I see it is on a truck that is currently in NY, then it goes to Indianapolis before coming here etc? How long is in transit actually take for those who have received their Tellurides?

You have brought up some excellent points. @Wap52 said his went IN TRANSIT and then arrived in one day (McKinney Texas) not sure if this is typical. I would be curious if the VINS you have been supplied in the past show up as sold. Not sure how to do that in your state - I think it can be done via public data in Texas.

This is a classic example of a HORRIBLE dealership! There is no way an order was/is in transit for arrival on August 29th!

If I were you I'd go into the dealership and demand the GM bring your order in front of you on their computer. It will be under your name and the order date will match your date ordered. In the same row he/she can show you the status. If your order came in and was sold, it will show it came in and when.

This can give you grounds to file a complaint with Kia and your state dept of consumer affairs. Without this concrete information you have nothing but conjecture/speculation.
