OK y’all: Ordered my Gravity Grey/Napa Black AWD SX-P on 8/24 and was told it would be 12-16 weeks. It’s now a few days into week 16 and latest word from the dealership (yesterday via email) is still no VIN assigned to my order which I am assured absolutely exists.

I scoured the magic spreadsheet and don’t see my car/dealership combo—but what are all the lines where there’s no detail?

The lines with no detail are non-US vehicles. Partial VINs. Could be going to Canada or the middle east.

Edwards Kia is a small dealership with limited turnover, so wait will be longer. But, to your advantage, 14 of their 59 allocations have been Prestige, so that's nearly 25% - higher than the average dealership. If your order exists, hopefully it will show up soon. Stephen Cantrelle can see in the future, while the spreadsheet looks into the past.

But, to your advantage, 14 of their 59 allocations have been Prestige, so that's 31% - higher than the average dealership. If your order exists, hopefully it will show up soon. Stephen Cantrelle can see in the future, while the spreadsheet looks into the past.

That makes perfect sense re: non US orders, thanks for the explanation!

I guess I will try and sit on my hands a little longer, my 2014 Sportage is paid off and has been a great little car. Might as well enjoy not having a car payment a little while longer...

Stephen, is there a post or thread that explains the process and hierarchy of completion on orders placed at a small dealers versus a large/ metro dealer. I am looking for some level of quantification or explanation of how delivery times can vary so drastically from small to large and how “orders” and “allocations” get scrambled together instead of a simple first in first out scenario with regard to orders.

Are you also @PL/OB Diego ? Yes, we've received them after ordering. I had two orders at one point - they both arrived. One at about 3.75 months and the other at just over 5 months - both from dealers with good turnover. (Both dealers have had over 120 Tellurides allocated to date.)

I personally experienced this at a NorCal dealer. When I placed an “order” they simply took my contact info down and placed my desired vehicle and options, SXP on a white board. They then simply wait until one gets allocated and call everyone on the list to see who will pay the highest price. I have received numerous calls from them since with varying package options to see if I want to buy it. No where near what I ordered. The same salesman suddenly gets amnesia or tells me that their notes must be messed up. The whiteboard I saw had over one hundred names and vehicle options. They are just stacking their deck. Rest assured I would never buy from them, but it is entertaining to watch.
I can only imagine how many people are getting played thinking they stumbled on a deal.

I ordered the same vehicle from same dealership in May - took 5 months. If someone cancels their order, you might get dibs at that.

Typically this is the long part of the wait. Then you get a internal number and your first ETA. The wait depends on the store volume on tellurides. Currently they aren’t showing any SX FWD or SX AWD on its way.. they have 1 EX,3 S, 2 LX all models are AWD’s on the way.

Found the exact Telluride that I have ordered back in July. Called the dealership up in San Jose, CA and they are asking 60,000 for it! I understand all wheel drive and Prestige package but jesus. Then he is wanting me to lease it and that would bring it down $4000.

Sounds like a trap to me.
