Moritz is a good dealership. They aren't lying. When the car is produced, it will get a VIN and a window sticker. Ask them to send you the VIN when they have it. As far as time... it depends on what they mean by "prepping to begin building". Once there is a VIN, maybe 2-3 weeks for final inspection and transport / delivery.

Thanks. Yes, I've heard nothing but good things about them, and I don't have any reason to believe otherwise. I guess I'm more interested in confirming whatever the Kia factory says. It seems like they are all over the place with their handling of these orders.

They should have an internal number if your order is accepted and your first ETA of arrival.. essentially the long part of the wait is over and you should have the car in 4-6 weeks at this point. Sometimes even sooner.

Received the "order accepted" call yesterday (12/18) with an ETA of 3/8.
Dealer has been great to work with, I have not had to chase them down for information.

Tried to order an SXP in May but dealer called morning of appointment and said Kia was no longer accepting orders. I called again in July and August and told same thing. I went to a different dealer first week of September and I picked it up Tuesday 12/17. Order to delivery 3.5 months unless you count back to May when I first tried to order.

Vin gets produced when Telluride is built. That is next step. Congrats you are getting close!

Many factors determine this. Trim, color combo, volume(allocation) of the dealership you are ordering from. in general 3 months to 8 months.. would need more information to narrow it down from there

My question was in a reply to the post "Vin gets produced when Telluride is built. That is next step." In other words when a particular order starts out at the beginning of the assembly line, about how long for the finished product to reach the end of assembly line? Does the VIN get assigned at the beginning or the end of the line?

That’s great news. Wondering how they gave a date 3 months from now? It is confusing me. Everyone else is saying you know nothing until vin is assigned then it’s about a month till delivery. This is the second post i have seen this! I am already waiting 3 months.

The VIN gets assigned at the beginning. I think it takes about a week to build one.

I assume he was reading that off the confirmed order from Kia but I don't know for sure.
He did say no VIN yet, as you mention below.
Do you have a requestID from your dealer?

The reason I ask is that I think sometimes, people the forum might be using the word order, in different ways. For me, it means placing a custom factory order with Kia, For others it seems to mean asking the dealer to sell them a vehicle out of dealer's allocated inventory. I could be wrong but that is the impression I get from reading some of the posts here.
