Order to delivery time

Boy, listening to you all, and your various experiences leaves me really confused. Wednesday evening, my dealer salesman called, said that my order (January 6) was canceled by the factory, that the '20's are no longer being produced, and that they didn't know when I'd be able to order a '21. After reading Mr. Cantrelle's posts, I visited the dealership today, and showed him what I was reading. The salesman took the info into the sales mgr., who said that their regional manager (?) for Kia is telling them that no orders for Tellurides can be placed currently, and that he didn't have a date for when they could be placed. Now, when I read more recent comments here, some folks are placing orders today/yesterday!
As I said, I'm just really confused. I'm now wondering if I should contact a bigger dealership (I'm in suburban St. Louis, MO) who might have more leverage with the factory. Any suggestions??

The confusion comes when someone says "I placed an order today" and that person doesn't understand when orders are placed with KIA. You can walk in today and "place an order" but all that really means is you are put on a waiting list and you had better hope you are dealing with a good dealer (like mine - should out to @StephenCantrelle ) that actually tracks names on a list. Then once per month KIA releases allocations to each dealer by model and trim in KFOS. It is in that system that names are taken from the waiting list and entered for production. Depending on the number of allocations and the volume of that dealer will determine how many months you wait to get an allocation and build date. For example - I "ordered" mine on January 15th. I am next in line for an allocation for an SX-Prestige. When KFOS opens up @StephenCantrelle will actually be able to get my order into the system. Mine will be going in as a 2021. Then the wait is 30-60 days to delivery.

Those that say - "I placed an order and got my car two weeks later" didn't really place an order. Most likely that dealership had the color and trim the buyer wanted already on order or someone backed out after it was slotted for production and the lucky buyer just picked up one already headed to their dealership. Oh...and the longest wait times for a true order are for the SX-P models.

If you are working with a dealership that can't explain what I just did...go find yourself a new dealership.

Ordered SX prestige w/ tow 1/30...was told 6-8 weeks (before COVID-19 impact realized). Nothing yet from dealer except he can’t get any good status updates from Kia. No VIN yet.

You were lucky to be told 6-8 weeks. Some people are waiting 6-8 months for that order!

Heard from my dealership today. Have a meeting at 9am Monday to pick mine up!

Congratulations!!!! Must admit I'm a little jealous. :)

I cancelled my order for the white EX..

BUT...

I'm getting a gravity gray EX next week!!! Dealer had one with the gray interior. Took a look at it today and loved the way it looked. I actually like it better than the white. Plus the sales manager said the delays could even stretch into end of June into July... No sense in waiting when I can get the car now. Even got a couple of extra accessories for free that came with the car.
Sweet! Looks great!

what did the deal quote you for delivery? I was told 6 to 8 weeks.
I ordered mine on Feb 8.

I was told I’d be informed when the order was “allocated” and at that point would receive an expected delivery date.

Heard nothing, and I touched base with them in mid-March, 5 weeks later, and it had still not been allocated. Now I’m hearing the factory has been shout down.
Called the dealership last week and no progress.

When did you place your order?
I placed my in November and am just now getting it.

Chance it isn't even the one I originally ordered since a few things are different

I ordered an SX-P T AWD on January 14. My build was scheduled 2 days before factory shutdown. Luckily a customer backed out of the exact same car at my dealer the following week on March 31.

Having had the car for 10 days now I can tell you it is ABSOLUTELY worth the wait. Best car in its class on the planet. I know firsthand how frustrating and stressful this waiting game can be. Hang in there, it will be worth it.

I've been driving Land Rover/BMW/Mercedes for 30 years. Telluride is the best vehicle experience I have ever had.

So far KIA is not shutting down the plant in the US. @lisacfl there are no more allocations for 2020. Next allocation will be on April 15-20 and those will be 2021s different color names and pricing increase. As of those specifics won’t know till then. But if you want a 2020 I have a bunch coming in still they probably won’t make it to the lot and will be sold before they get here. Please let me know if you have any questions thank you. aaroneastman1175@icloud.com

I ordered a SX P w/ Tow on April 9th. My dealer told me that it should be in by July, but said it would be 2020. The General manager said the 2021s wouldn't be available until late summer early fall. But everything I am reading on here says I will be getting a 2021. I sure hope its a 2021 but what am I to believe.

I'd expect 2021 news from KIA directly here in the next week or two.
