Order to delivery time

what did the deal quote you for delivery? I was told 6 to 8 weeks.
I ordered my SXP on 13 March 2019. I was told it would take 10 weeks from that date. Now I'm being told they had to close the plant in Georgia for two weeks, so now it may be mid June when it comes. I've waited this long, so i guess i'll wait some more.

Hopefully you mean 2020 and 2019? If it is 2019 then that is downright criminal!

Lol...i meant 2020

I ordered an SX-P (Gravity Gray/Black) on November 11, 2019. My dealer just informed me my car will now be a 2021, and that I am first in line for their next SX-P allocation. He indicated his dealership gets 5 to 10 allocations per month, and all allocations are built to match the specs for the cars on their wait list in chronological order. He expects my car to be part of their June allocations, and then it would take about two months for delivery. So I should get my car in August (9 months), but of course further covid-related delays could set everything back. He also previously told me they would honor the 2020 MSRP price I agreed to back in November. I hope (and anticipate) that the car will be worth the wait!

With many dealerships agreeing to allow for 2020 pricing, it leads me to believe the price differential between the 2020 and 2021 will truly not be much...

March of 2020 - not really that long compared to most that are waiting for their SXP. I ordered mine in January...and it will be a 2021 in August/September.

Don"t believe what the dealers are telling you, they don't even know. Mine in San Jose told me 6 weeks back in Jan. Going on 16 weeks, with all the delays, and still no sign of it coming. When it shows up, it shows up, ..thats my attitude now.

Most importantly your wife and daughter were for the most part unharmed. I am sorry you had to wait so long just for this to happen...truly frustrating.

Does't the Telly have side impact airbags in the seats? I know this is more of a frontal collision, but surprised those didn't go off...
I guess because it was a front/passenger impact, and nobody was in the passenger seat, none of those side bags deployed.

Some of them are quite honest and up front. Took about the correct time to get mine.

I find it amazing that a lot of these dealers have absolutely no clue what's going on... I put in my so-called "order" back in December of last year (2019), and my dealer cannot tell me anything... I've asked several softball questions, such as:

"How many allocations does your dealership get a month?"

"How many people are ahead of me?"

"Did you ever place the order into the system?"

"Will mine be a 2020 or a 2021?"

They cannot answer any of these questions... If I operated like that in my line of work, I'd be fired immediately.

Several months ago, I asked to change the color from Gravity Gray to Black. At that time, they said they could not make that change. I then said, "Oh! So the order was placed then?!" Answer, "I'm not sure..." I mean WTF?

Oh well... I'll continue to wait. I don't mind waiting. I've waited this long, and I'm happy to wait until this December, if I have to... I just want some simple answers to very simple questions... Is that too much to ask?

Good grief...

Dealer should be able to provide you with a Confirmation Number, such as, IN026191004J00, for your specific order, once it is placed with KIA. You should also have a receipt for your deposit. If they haven't bee able to provide you with a Confirmation Number I wouldn't trust anything coming out of their mouths. If they can't answer question #3 or #4 (shown above) then look for another dealer.

Yea may be time to escalate to a regional sales rep or something, especially if you put a deposit down.
For comparison I can call my dealership right now and the damn secretary answering the phone can give me that information you're seeking bc the dealership has a system in place for this ordering chaos. GL

Side note, it is comical that if you call KIA "corporate" they tell you that they don't dictate or enforce sales tactics by dealers bc they are "independent" of KIA but any McDonald's you go to theres more strict uniformity and ethics and they're all franchised. Makes no damn sense why car dealerships are not held to a higher standard than fast food chains. Just sayn, your name is on that dealership and consumers don't want to accept that they're independently owned and operated, its still your product they're selling. Should be the same process at ANY dealer you go to but thats just my opinion. Shop around for the dealer you like

"Standards" and "Car Dealerships" are rarely used in the same sentence. I fully agree. Any dealership should have performance standards and a RATINGS from customers. Corporate owned, privately owned or franchised should make no difference. I remember when we had a Mobil station for gas and repairs. The rep. would be around once a month or even more frequently. They checked appearance, display of merchandise, etc. Man if the paint on the curbs/islands weren't up to standards you were written up (could also effect gas deliveries and pricing). It used to be the same way for Ford dealerships and others. Guess I am dreaming and really taking a trip down memory lane.
