Order to delivery time

Just put a deposit on a Black on Black EX in Georgia last week. Supposed to be delivered by July 6th.

This was not a special order it was incoming allocation.

I did make sure to get it in writing that my deposit was refundable if it was not delivered by July 6th.

They said their deliveries have been all over the place...Some have been early and some have been months late, so they just never know what's going to be there when. I told him I would even do a Dark Grey with Black interior or even an AWD whichever came in first. Now I am just waiting on the call that I'm telling myself I will probably never get lol.

Can confirm... a little over 1800 Tellurides moving over to 2021’s. Don’t know about this being last week officially for 20’s.. but definitely things in motion.

Yep, it looks like the calls are going out. I had checked in last week to see if my SX-P that I ordered late Feb, was picked up in KFOS in the March window, and was originally slated for June delivery was still going to be a 2020. As of last week, it was...although delivery had been pushed to July due to pandemic.

Today, I got the call that it is being pushed to a 2021 and August is probably the earliest delivery date. It sounded like my dealer (Abeloff in Eastern PA) was making a bunch of calls like this today.

I put down a healthy deposit on a black SX- AWD w/towing package at the end of Dec '19 @ Kia of Beavercreek OH... Have had very little luck in getting any actual delivery date. Originally they thought maybe end of May to early June. Last I heard was end of July. The SUV I'm currently driving is literally on its last wheel and I don't even have a known delivery date. This is beyond frustrating on so many levels! Any advice or tips? Do you think this may end up being a 2021 model at this point? I just don't understand how so many dealers seem to not know what's going on with production/delivery of vehicles that people have put money down on?

I also put a very sizable (refundable) deposit on my EX. The lack of communication from the ‘KIA mothership’ seems to be widespread. My dealer contacted me today, and after a 20 minute conversation, I came away even more confused about my order than before. 2 weeks ago I was told I’d be moving into a 2021 MY, with a July delivery date, after which, later that night, my sales person I’d been working with, informed me she was leaving for another job and gave me info on my new sales guy. Well that guy ended up telling me today that he has no idea whether I’m getting a 2020 or a 2021, no idea on a delivery date (although when pressed, he believes I’ll have it before the end of July). He rambled on about COVID and how someone in the high uppance at the mothership had caught it and that caused the second shutdown a few weeks ago, or some BS (which that shutdown was attributed to a parts shortage from Mexico). Bottom line, it seems like the vast majority of dealerships are hearing some poor secondhand knowledge or are just straight up feeding BS to their customers. With that said, I understand that KIA is probably not saying anything official, otherwise I know the dealers who are on this site would have shared that info with us, so I know they are stuck themselves, wanting to make sure they don’t lose customers. I don’t really have any tips or tricks other than to keep an eye out on here for official posts from people such as @StephenCantrelle or @Jason Fox or other reputable dealers on here. This is by far the worst car buying experience I ever have had. Thank goodness I fully intend to keep this vehicle for the next 10 years or hopefully longer.

Sounds like my story but my order turned to be not even placed. Do you have a copy of kfos or kdealer order to make sure they placed your order?

With all the talk about production, COVID-19, 2020 or 2021 etc I hope the QUALITY of my ordered SX-P AWD with tow package (supposed delivery in July 2020) is not in jeopardy . . .

This is what I was given, I hope this is legit or I’ll probably be taking a trip up to the dealer tomorrow to have a talk. This was an allocated unit that I put my deposit down on.

We reserved a dealership allocated order back in Feb for a White S FWD Telly. I spoke with the dealer today and my order is still in the system, no VIN, but with an ETA of 7/1. He confirmed that there have been waves of orders being cancelled and said that he wasn’t sure if more orders would be cancelled. Any opinions on if there will be more cancellations/if you think this order will be safe?!?

Factory Allocated Stock looks to be like you get what they get. I don't see an order here.

My personal opinion is that it’s 50/50 whether it’ll be cancelled or not. I’d like to think with the second wave of cancellations that just took place, you’d be safe, but honestly who knows? I realize none of that is helpful really, but I just don’t think there’s a clear answer one way or another. Definitely keep an eye out on the VIN production tool for one matching your description that’s heading to your dealer.

Yeah, I think I may have worded it wrong. I did not order a specific Telluride at all, they just told me what they had factory allocated coming in, and that is what I put a deposit down on. They were up front about it being an EX with black on black, although they never mentioned it was a Premium model, but I’m happy that it looks to be. But this does look like a legit FA Telluride slip/order sheet?

Looks to be correct if that is what they are getting and you have reserved based on whatever you have worked out with them.

Alright, well, this is the FA Telly that they’ve been moving the ETA on all around, and recently told me it was being moved to a 2021 MY, and then today told me they honestly don’t know if it’ll be a 2020 or a 2021 and no longer have an idea on an ETA. This whole thing has me uneasy. Luckily I don’t have to have a new car right now, but I’ll still be really unhappy if I end up wasting months of my time to find out they lost my order or some BS. My dealer did at least tell me that my Telly should be the next one built whenever the time comes, but who knows.

Nobody really knows. Only The Great OZ can tell you!

Lol, that’s what I’ve gathered over the past month or so. I do thank you a ton for your help though!

It gives me some level of comfort that it’s still in the system and the dealer literally just confirmed that an hour ago, but the fact that it hasn’t been assigned a VIN worries me. If this thing doesn’t come through, my wife wont be having any of it and she will likely want to pull the trigger on a van! No!

Anytime. I've learned one thing when you deal withTellurides...You aren't in Kansas anymore!

I'm in the same boat with my dealer, San Jose Kia. I ordered mine Black/Copper loaded and he doesn't know anything. I send him a e-mail every month on the 14th and he tells me "still waiting." I ordered it on Jan 14th. If it doesn't come in soon, I might jump over to a 2021 GMC Yukon Denali. Bigger vehicle, more towing, 7 seater. Then I'll say, "screw you Kia".
Just like in the old gangster movies, "Nobody knows Nut'in".
