Ordered SXP (custom order through the Costco Auto Program, not an allocated vehicle) on October 15th (that date is not a typo!!) and was prepared for the estimated 3-6 month wait... but still no car, no VIN, no ETA, no info. My salesperson emailed yesterday out of the blue a vague message (keeping with the theme of the past 8 months of vagueness) that "the factory has opened production and the dealership is getting more orders filled and will email car info soon". Last month I was told I was #9 on my dealership's waitlist of Tellurides ordered. I have been watching the website and last week 5 Tellys were manufactured for my dealership (IL072), after months of zero. What are the chances my Telly will be built? What are the chances my order will be cancelled? @StephenCantrelle @Jason Fox I think waiting since OCTOBER is wearing on me, and with so much talk of what will happen with the backlog of 2020/2021 switch over, I am feeling defeated & powerless over here. I am so worried I will end up screwed with no car after all this time.
Unfortunately, that dealership has a bad reputation on the forum. Several other members posted that they had "ordered" from there, but their vehicles were never delivered. I believe that the dealership uses the "Costco" program to secure deposits, but doesn't order the customer's vehicle in KFOS in any reasonable timeframe if the market is demanding premiums. I.e., they are just stringing you along while they order vehicles not tied to sold orders that they can sell at a markup. They could get away with this if the order is never input into Kdealer. I haven't read of one successful delivery from that dealer - one person cancelled and looked for another vehicle. Another person used spreadsheet and VIN lookup tools to find their desired vehicle at a dealer in Wisconsin. And yet two others did similarly. You previously questioned your dealer's integrity... your hunch is right.
At this point, you are between a rock and a hard place. You can wait it out, and hope that your vehicle is delivered within the next 3 months. I would start to search for a vehicle that someone has backed out on via the VIN lookup tool. Problem is that production has been so slow for 2+ months - so markups are worsening and you might not be able to find it. Good luck.
