Order to delivery time

The good news is that it appears Muncie has been allocated 3 SXP in June which would just about double their previous allocation. The bad news is that I'm about 12th in the que. Add to that 4-8 weeks for delivery and I could be looking at another 5-6 months. I do have Costco pricing.

The alternative

I have been offered a SX that is scheduled to arrive in August at MSRP + 2000 from a reputable dealer. So I get a SX instead of SXP 3 or 4 months earlier.

I've been waiting since Nov 2019 and my patience is wearing thin. What should I do??

I’d stay the course with Muncie. You’ve already waited this long. The $2K market adjustment for an SX likely means you’re paying pretty much the equivalent of SXP pricing. If you can wait, I’d hang on

What is the savings being a Costco Member?

Tough choice. Muncie is a reputable dealership, and sometimes they get more SXPs. But, not enough to get you your vehicle faster. If you can wait, I'd wait. But, if it's important to have it in August, then go with regular SX. All in you'll be +$3,000 for SX vs non-allocated SXP, but you'll have the vehicle. I would say get the prestige if you really want the HUD or ventilated second row seats. Upgraded leather is nice - but regular leather is also good. All in how long you want to wait... of course the risk is that factory shuts down for another month... but it seems like they are committed to keep producing.

Wondering if people can start posting when they ordered and when they received their Kia (or at least the vin).

I ordered an sx prestige with tow on March 13. Nothing yet.

Many of the threads here have gotten hare to follow woth with the side conversations, it would be helpful to just keep this to dates for people’s reference.

I ordered my SX prestige the second week in November, was quoted end of February/early March....I JUST got a VIN number last week and I am scheduled to pick up Friday. I am TRYING not to get my hopes up because we have been put off SO MANY times. Of course they blame all of it on the COVID 19 factory shut down which I am sure had something to do with it, but had they delivered in Feb/March as promised, we would've missed all of that.

I was kinda late to the game compared to some (most) of you. I put a deposit down on a gravity grey SX just after Memorial Day. It was a dealer allocated car with an eta of 6/19. I though a month seemed long. Then I found this place and thought, “uh oh...what did I get myself into”
Anyway, they did the model year switchover and the dealer called last Monday letting me know that half of their original allocated units were showing for them now with a new eta of 7/20. Of course, mine wasn’t in that half. They offered me one of that group in a silver, but I opted to just hold tight. I hope I made the right decision, because as of now, there’s no ETA on my car.

Also, when I explain all this to people, they look at me like Im crazy

Update: Dealer called. My gravity Grey was part of a group of allocated cars that is now being converted to Nightfall edition. This would be cool if I wanted Nightfall, but I do not.

Sooooo, I have a couple choices. They still have an everlasting silver SX with an August ETA. Or I can put in an order for gravity grey as soon as that ordering opens up for him, which he thinks could be any day. Based on what I read on all your orders, I anticipate that ETA to be sometime in 2024....(he says Sep or Oct, hopefully)

I’m thinking I may just switch to the silver. I swear I’ve looked at the grey and silver threads here at least 78 times each.

I’ve officially switched from the Gravity Grey Gang to the Everlasting Silver Syndicate

ETA of 8/17

I am very late to the Telluride party so I am just catching up on all the insanity with the ordering, markups, etc. This forum has so much info! I have yet to even test drive a Telluride because, well you need to find one to drive one, but I am 95% sure I will end up with an EX AWD Premium.

Has anyone put in a very recent order, and if so, what was the ETA? I'm in MA between Boston and Providence and would be curious what experience people have had with the local MA dealers. Are any charging MSRP? I've contacted a couple about cars that were on their websites, only to learn they were not available and they would not have any until September. I set foot in one local dealer in the spring and left feeling dirty (and they didn't even have any Tellurides). I'm wondering if ordering one might be the best approach but I would need a reputable dealer. The only thing is I will need to get into a new car by this fall. My SUV with almost 200k miles should make it to winter, but the tires probably will not and I refuse to dump more money into this thing. So a 4 month delivery time probably wouldn't work.

Pretty much ditto to the previous post. Greater Boston. I have a Q8 coming off lease in January so delivery of 3-4 months is fine. But is that even possible? It seems like a shady process overall. Even if you order, it seems even color options are subject to change? How can people be putting up with that?

Thanks.

Long time lurker, first time poster. First off, thank you all for all of the information here. This at least has given me something to do while I've been waiting for my car. (And also how I've been able to ask my dealer super well informed questions they aren't expecting.)

That being said, I'm pretty pumped to ask this next question : @StephenCantrelle could you check on my VIN for me? 5XYP54HC4MG096141 ? Please and thank you!

Dangerously close.. ETA is 07-10 to Carriage Kia

KIA corporate needs to hear more about this crap going on. If enough people complain and flood KIA with complaints maybe something could change?

I did complain about a dealership asking for market adjustment and even told Kia corporate all dealers in my area are doing this. They pretty much said they are independently operated. I said, it is a shame you can't do more and left it at that. I have only paid MSRP once on an Infiniti and I regretted it since I am way under water based on it's current market value. I just can't bring myself to even pay MSRP on any car so I will wait and wait and wait or go with a different car next April.

Please don't assign your buyer's remorse on that Infiniti deal to the super popular brand new Telluride. Yes, it's frustrating, but the Telluride is reasonably priced at MSRP - in line with target competition - but because it provides more value to many buyers than an Atlas, Highlander, Ascent or Pilot, (and arguably a luxury brand) people are willing to pay markups. This is the first vehicle I could sell for more than I paid - a year later! Eventually supply and demand may equalize and dealers will have stock, but it will be a while. You can find a dealer willing to take your order at MSRP (or some even under MSRP), but you'll have to wait out the delivery.

There are nearly 800 Kia dealers... surely you can make a deal with 1 of them. It will just take time.

Super popular and brand new for a couple of years. Demand will eventually subside once the craze wears off then likely there will be Telluride buyers with buyer's remorse.

Also, I only responded to someone else who suggested people should complain to Kia corporate letting him know I did and shared what they told me.

Found an SXP in Mass but it's 5k+ MSRP...

It's Boss Moss with Dune...if it was MSRP I would have grabbed it...

If it was at MSRP, it probably would have been gone before you even called them!
